I don't see why an older PC would not work -  as long as you can install the card with its drivers.  However if you are using an older OS like Win98, that may be a different issue.  You'll have to see if the drivers work under your current OS.

thats why PCI cards were made, so older machines could use this new technology. The speeds depends on your PCI slot speeds.

New cards do not always work in old machines... a friend got a big sata HD for xmas, bought a sata card but it was not accepted by his P3 system.

I use a NEC Celeron 900 with that card, running XP of a 10Gb HD and 128mb ram.. a tid bit slow but works ok smile.gif

Yes, it will work.  I flash all Samsung and Hitachi drives on an Abit BH6 motherboard which I bought in 2000 and was running a PII-350.  (Now running a P3-900 with a VIA 6421L PCI card; you'll be just fine smile.gif )
