Probably because they are made by different manufacturers. Same basic design and component layout, though.

Hopefully we see something more than speculation on this whole thing. Any other info besides the video of this guy?

Everyone run out and buy king kong lol! This is going to rock if it all works out.. Seems to be real, dont think its going to be a really solid hack though.. Prob has really bad limitations, Spec if the only thing he had to show us so far is a tux logo. I think there is a hack BUT its basic and limited so we wont have anything good coming out of it... at least for a while.

The DLP-TxRx-G USB to serial adapter is designed to easily connect a microcontroller/DSP/FPGA/etc. to a host PC or upgrade a legacy RS232 device to USB with minimal design effort.
* Connection to host PC/Mac made via mini USB connector
* As few as 2 wire serial interface (Tx, Rx and ground) - This Has Got Me Thinking
* Standard Baud rates from 300 to 921600 Baud
* Support for non-standard Baud rates
* Open-collector output available for resetting microcontroller under software control (DTR)
* Input provided for user-selectable interface voltage
* Red and green LEDs to indicate transmit and receive activity

The DLP-TxRx-G now uses the new FT232RL chip and is supplied as a lead free RoHS compliant module.

when will you guys finally understand that this is NOT presented by the CCC! it's NOT an official CCC lecture, just some sort of soapbox for everybody - held at an CCC event.

If somebody from M$ showed up there and would have showcased Windows Vista, you wouldn't say that the CCC wrote a new Operating System, or do you?

Sorry when i have written this post i havent have read this post (it was later on when i have read it) where it was written that this was NOT a official CCC lecture
