Firmware Hacking Help
« on: August 10, 2006, 04:44:00 AM »

KDX1.5 will not work with xtreme 3.0 - and i dont think a new version is released. The key is located at the same spot, but in c4evas nfo file it states to input the key from $4000-4400 instead of the old $4000-4200.

Just get a hex editor and do it manually, its not hard at all.

Arrggh. Replaced the key and reflashed the drive but. The machine keeps flashing 3 red lights 1,3 and 4. It does this with or without the drive connected!!!!!

I've tried checking the video cable and making sure the power is in properly

Check the size of your xtreme firmware with the key in it. If it is larger than 256kb it is an easy fix. If this is the case you didnt overwrite the area between 4000-4400, you just inserted the key in between - thus making the file larger. Is this your problem?

No, dont give up! Did you check the firmware like i asked you to? The same error is probably there if you unplug your drive from the 360 - probably "dvd timeout" or something like that.

Now, again, what is the exact size of your modified xtreme.bin?

I've not tried reflashing as yet. The actual size of the patched xtreme.bin is 262,144b

hope this helps

That is the correct size for the bin file.

Now, did you check your hex between 4000 and 4400 from your orig.bin that it wasn't all FF?

Dang, you do have the right size. Was hoping this was the issue. Well, just flash back to your orig.bin and see if you can get it working with originals.
