Try booting into safe mode.  I think you also need the av cable connected.

I could never get the drive visible with slax. Cursed for several hours, then got the connectivity kit.. works like a charm.

(Mine to was visible in dos/bios.. That doesnt mean nothin)

Hi, Have you tried both SATA Sockets? I found on ma Sli3112A Chip set that it would detect and show in windows on one socket but not the other.
