How do the current methods give you wear and tear??

Switching the AV switch is a problem?

The new firmware also does have methods built in for a soft reset.

Not that any of these methods bother me in any way,
but i'm sure if there was something like this there wouldn't
be a lot of people saying"screw that, i'd rather remove my hard drive
and slap it back on everytime or hitting eject multiple times or whatever.

I would say if there is anyone that would like doing the things mentioned
then post, but on second thought it's a technical question so let's keep
the replys in line with that.
