I will post what I sent to PSoff in the event that it helps anyone.
I basically tried 3 copies of Tomb raider total (my own and 2 of my friends). Each time I tried to rip with WxRipper, I got errors in the same place. I adjusted the layout file based on how much my drive could read of the disc and dummied the rest.
Normally, your drive reads data with size "109344" (3rd part of the layout). With other games worked fine, however, with TR, it fails as you suggested when trying to read the full amount. So basically, I tested to see how far my reader would read on TR and I changed the layout slightly to say read up to 90112 and dummy the rest to fill up to size 109344. Then I left the rest the same. That worked for TR, but may not work for Hitman.
See, I believe that the first C1783936 is the first layer of game data on your game and the second one corresponds to the second layer. Those I believe shouldn't have any errors. However, the section of the disc we are having problems with I don't believe now that they contain important information since lots of people seem to be dummying the whole thing (that 109344 section).
However, your hitman issue seems slightly different since data on the second layer is giving you errors. It really shouldn't be giving you errors there. You can try something and it may very well read in and burn and even run.. but in the end the game may not work fully and you will never know until you play the full game off your backup.
If you notice, my layout , when you add 90112+ 19232 = 109344. I basically made sure that whatever I did, still resulted in the proper totals. So you could try something like this for your hitman:
C19408
D1072
C90112
D19232
C1783936
J252736
D1072
C1782864
J0
This says Dummy the first 1072 sectors of the second layer of data and try to copy the rest. Again notice that 1072 + 1782864 = the original value of 1783936. ANd since I don't want to wait 30 minutes each time to find out if this works, you can do this for testing:
D19408
D1072
D90112
D19232
D1783936
J252736
D1072
C1782864
J0
so it will dummy up everything until it reaches your test. If your test still CRC failes, adjust the D1072 higher (say 2048 of course making sure you subtract that from 1783936 to get your second value of 1781888). I would try to maximize what you can copy so keep adjusting until that Cxxxxxxx value is the highest you can get it without CRC and then when you get the final numbers, put it back into the good layout file and make a copy of your hitman. You can make the increments smaller as well to fine tune and dummy exactly the point up to the failure and end up copying as much as possible. Again, I dont really know if we are missing important information when we dummy the data, so use at your own risk.
I guess ultimately, it could be the drives we are using to read the discs (I am using a Sony DRU-500A) that cannot read things properly. I read someone else saying that their TR read in fine (but I only saw one person post that). I suppose if you truely don't want to worry about that stuff, then you would have to flash xtreme800 and use your xbox 360 drive - that's a serious pain in the ass tho and I'd rather not re-flash my 360 drive constantly.
Good luck
