the
wsj article itself is crap, with an emphasis on piracy. it mentions several ways that people have gone about stealing software but doesn't even hint at the other capabilities of a hacked box, such as xboxmediacenter, linux machines, or using it as a conduit between your computer and the living room. it also fails to mention how many of the capabilities of new consoles were ideas and desires of people in the scene, who pulled off many of them much better than MS ever could. it also makes it appear that all distributors and users of hacked consoles are shady teenagers hiding in a basement selling hacked consoles on the blackmarket. bobby white should have done his homework.
its also too bad that huang (bunnie) had to clarify his view on the idea of cracking the box being a competitive venture as the article contradicts itself by mentioning the collaboration over nachos and then suggesting throughout that hackers are vieing to be the first crack it.
otherwise, good luck bunnie and all the other hackers. you guys do the hard work so us endusers can get more out of our machines and have a fun hobby doing it. thx
