I thought for sure as soon as launch someone might be working on a program to make xbox360 think your regular pc is a media pc and allow it to stream videos, however 6months later i see no sign of one, does anyone know why? doesnt seem like it would be a diffucult thing to do AT ALL.

I've seen posts and read technical articles explaining that XP Media Center edition is completely different to Standard XP.  MC contains streaming functionality right to it's core, blah, blah, blah.  I read all that, and was left still wondered why no one has done what you suggest. huh.gif

As far as the X360 is concerned it's simply a protocol exchange with an external device, and most desktop PCs should be plenty fast enough stream the content from the HDD without deep OS support.  Windows media player on std XP manages to maintain the frame rate when reading from HDD with no major issues. smile.gif

I suspect the issue is XP MC is fairly cheap to buy, and is also widely available around the net cool.gif, so it’s simply not worth anyone’s effort to produce a poor-mans MC emulating app which could only ever do the job half as well. dry.gif  (Which is a pity as MediaPortal, the Windows port of XBMC, would make a cool container in which to host such MC emulating functionality.)

The Linux boys of course have more reason to develop an MC emulator, and with the growth of MC appliances, may have sufficient momentum to warrant such effort. happy.gif  Maybe such an app could eventually be ported back to XP. rolleyes.gif

Just buy a seperate HDD and install WMCE on it...or use Xbox Media Center on the regular XBox. It can do more (minus HD video) than any streaming programs for the 360 can.

And im not going to download it illegally, that locks you out of MSs website as far as updated are concerned

I don't condone illegal downloading, especially on something you use every day, but this statement is false, as there is ALWAYS a way to get around security checks.
