Hooking Samsumg Dvd-rom To Dell Optiplex 270
« on: May 23, 2006, 01:45:00 AM »

you use the 360 to power on the Sammy drive...
whip off case...remove only the long screws..leave the DVD in the 360 just tilt enough to get the cable out and your sata cable in.
so no need for any SATA style power connectors to perform the upgrade. in future if you wanted to add a vannila SATA device you can get a Molex to Sata power adapter.

the GX270 works a charm....
i used my girls GX270 to do the upgrade as my A8N32 was being a right bitch..

as you open the lid the Sata port is at the front of the MB to the far left. (facing forwards not upwards as per normal MBs)
has some silly white pastic cover thing, whip this off....

your also going to have to find a floppy drive as many GX's are floppy less.
but there is already a floppy cable plus floppy power in place. i just fitted a floppy to the GX for future usage.

use the standard MTKflash as provided with the bios...
IC6 Master channel (option 1)

good luck.

also i noticed the 360 switches itself off after a short period of time of flashing red lights..
when writing to the 360 dvd make sure you power off the 360 and back on again just prior.
my unit went to sleep when reading the fireware from it, would hate for this to happen when wrighting to it.
