Pc Lockup During Post?
« on: May 22, 2006, 07:33:00 AM »

Hello, I can't seem to even get my PC to boot Periodf when the 360 drive is connected and powered on . On another forum I found it was suggested to boot the pc and wait till after post and turn on the 360 to power the drive. But no matter where in the MSDOS boot process I hit power on the drive IT instantly locks the pc. I've tried at different intervals 8-10 seconds apart throughout the boot process and it freezes everytime. I Only have one sata device ,the hard drive)which is discconected, and 2 ide devices one for the boot cd, cause I dont have a floppy, and the other is disconnected. Any ideas on where to look next would be appreciated. BTW, I have a Gateway GT5014H PC, with an INTEL D945gcz MB, there are NO SATA adjustments in the bios and IDE has only 2 options, enhanced or legacy, I've tried both. Thanks In Advance.

On some systems you really need to remove all IDE devices.. I would buy a floppy drive or some systems can boot from a USB key...

Thanks for the reply, I did get it going, after I removed all ide, and used a USB pen drive.  Also I booted the 360 first and waited for it to hit the dashboard before booting PC.
