How To Get A Correct Vga Output Using Xebian?
« on: October 08, 2004, 10:19:00 AM »

Ok, so I softmodded my Xbox; installed a 160 GB HD in it, got Evox and all the other goodies we all know and love up and running; next i installed Xebian on F, and it works just fine: i can login via ssh, disabled the user live that boots and starts a weird UI and configured samba.

Now, my problem is: i puchased the Sagestar  Y PbPr Vga Box and hooked it to my 17" monitor, both the Xbox Logo and Dasboard(s) are displayed fine; but when i boot Xebian everything goes to hell, i get a complete out of sync signal that displays the kernel and services messages twice on my screen.

I have tried the following instructions from the LInux Wiki documentation with no luck:

http://unmodded.mine.nu/docs/VgaOutput

I tried the append option with the lilo bootloader and didnt help at all, i have yet to try the xbv commands; but i havent had time.

Anyone can help me out?

PS - I used the following procedure to install Xebian, im thinking that maybe it isnt the best choice for VGA output:

Can anyone confirm this?

Hey every1, i went and followed the tutorial where support for the Focus video chip is added by flashing the TSOP with Shallax's loader.

I soldered the points on the motherboard and proceeded to flash, everything went OK, now my xbox boots right into the Gentoox loader, but the video problem remains, and with neither my 34" Sony Wega or the mentioned VGA Box and 19" Monitor i am able to get a good image, i have tried every single combination of options that xbvset offers with various results, i would like to take photos for everyone to see. I guess ill do that soon.

Can anyone give me any advise?
