http://www.cc.gatech.edu/~ranma1/mac_install.html

From Gizmodo:
I'm sure that you'd be breaking hundreds of license agreements and the like to do it, but someone has figured out how to install Mac OSX onto an Xbox and been kind enough to post instructions. It's no small feat, though, involving a mod-chipped Xbox, image files of OSX, installation of the Pear PC emulator, and a couple of dozen hours to go through the entire install process. When you're done, though, you'll have one of the slowest, least-useful OSX boxes money can buy!

well, I'm sure it's just to say, "Hey, this is possible and we did it."  Perhaps something will arise from this, but yea, slow has got to be an understatement I would imagine.

Well, the webpage says it took 10 hours just to install the Mac OS...
...so if you can imagine how slow a normal MacPC would have to be to take 10 hours to install.. >o.O<

Don't you mean Longhorn..or some other not yet powerful enough Windows OS?
<_<

I'd like to see someone run a fully installed Windows on an Xbox.

I think if you could get 98 running like Linux Does (if that is even anyway possible not having the code to Windows) it wouldnt be much slower than the 500mghtz machines it came on  dry.gif  would it?

to me that would be the Ultimate XBOX Xploit

But I would still install Gentoox every now and then on my XBOX, just to do it.

its not running windows 98 on on the xbox, its more like it cant be EMULATED by something, know what i mean?

Because Linux takes takes up EEXTRME amounts of RAM. If it ran by itself, it would run like any other computer.

Or am i wrong.

linux takes up only about 4M of RAM. PearPC according to the project info is about 1/15 of the raw CPU. I believe seeing similar figure for QEMU. So we are talking about a Pentium 75 with 64M RAM. Should still be a good 95/98 machine if one wants. But why not just use WINE under linux ?

Boches is much slower, about 1/100 according to what I read.

perpc is a very early and slow powerpc emulator. there just showing off it can boot macosx on a xbox not relly run anything after lol. however vmware is well caple of running up to windows 2000 on a xbox linux system at decent speeds and iv been told it runs win98 se very well on the xbox without 3d acell of course. its possable to get vmware to run windows xp on xbox linux if you have a 128mb of ram or tell vmware to use all 64 megs normaly it uses 99% of the cpu when your in the emulated pc and half the ram that would = out to a 699mhz cpu running 32 megs of ram and no 3d acell on win98.

so normaly 32 megs on vmware is enough to run up to 98 with decent speeds but probly wouldent even boot xp being it has a minum of 64 megs. not to metion you would need a bigger hd in the xbox couse xp needs like 6 gigs of space to run.

of course thats all not relly nessary in linux couse of wine and winex you can run the games or apps in linux without emulationg the entire os or another pc. and you could always install that linux window manager that looks and acts just like windows xp and fool your frends. i think its called xpde.

it would be more of a feat if they installed darwin on to an xbox, then you could accually start building the GUI from the ground up instead of emulating it on xebian

you guys still need to know that mac os is being emulated unlike linux and that it is being emulated under linux

so you wont be seeing any mac os running fast on the xbox lol

thers a x86 open source version of darwin. someone could easly port darwin over to xbox but its not any diffrent from linux so thers no point. darawin is just the part of macosx that runs linux apps and other things. and being its linux its free for download and open source from the apple site. the half that mac os is closed source and not free unlike the darawin half. in fact you can find the source code to darwin and darwin 7.0 for x86 hear.
