Firmware Hack
« on: March 20, 2006, 01:02:00 PM »

Can anyone on this team please test this and let us know.  I'm sure a lot of people here have a big library of all the gmes they bought (lol).  It would be nice to know if these worked on 360s.

Firmware Hack

The main reason i'd like to get hacked firmware would be if it was possible to play games region free. Is this possible with the fw hack ? If not will it be possible in the future ? Is it not the dvd drive that decides if a game is from another region and should a fw hack not be able to over ride this check ?

currently not possible and probably also not in future firmware hacks since the region is located in the xex and not on the disc.

Well first off I gotta say props to everyone who contributed. You are some smart SOB's. Funny thing is, if team Xecuter, releases a Plug, Flash, And play, then thats even easier then the XBOX 1, No soldering, No wires, no really a risk on SOFTMOD fuck ups, I know firmware can very well mess up and kill ur Drive, but thats a diff story. Just funny.... I wonder if the XBOX SECURITY team is getting fucked? funny stuff. And no im not trying to down play and say this hack was easy to create, im sure it was very difficult and required some very bright minds, just saying the apply factor is easier. I wanna hear MSs reaction. TheSpecialist TEAM rules!

BTW, I understand that even with this hack we cant do homebrew (atleast as of right now) so the security is good with that, but I cant 100% bet MS is much more worried with u playing copied games only, then some SNES emu.

Well obiovusly is MS sighned the Firmware then this hack would'nt have even been able to exist. My question is why they didnt? I do not assume they just forgot.... thats almost like forgeting to sign the Bios, or XBOX game disc... that just doesnt happen... So my question is they didnt sigh it becuase they thought the 16byte key would be enough? but all that does it make it so you cant interchange the drive, unless the other drive has that key.... Maybe they didnt sigh it becuase they knew it would be possible to extract the firmware, and then decrypt it, and then have the key, thus meaning u could sigh your own discs??? but to solve that problem they could have just used a diff key for firmware then they have for the discs...... I hope that makes sense..... just wodnering how they slacked on this.... if appartly they took 3 years on the security... unless they really just spent like 2.8 years on the Kernal security and like 2 weeks on the DVD rom.....

sorry for the spelling / grammer. I got allitle excited.. and Im in a hurry. late

They did sign it, and it isn't a hoax. You can work around the signature in the Firmware, and it wont dis-appear or change.

and got a PC METHOD that is doing it ALL

i dont know for which drive..but the shyt is real..i seen proof laugh.gif

P.S this Method.. they didnt DESOLDER anything..it was ALL PC

Got a legit question to ask.. then ask. Get cute.. and skirt the rules on piracy talk.. and expect the mods to ban you.

"dude.. I own 14 games.. and cough PGR2 cough ain't working.. help.." is a quick way to get banned.

XS is NOT here to help you pirate games. We will help you.. and give you detailed instructions on how to backup your investments.. but we won't help you with your pirate downloads.

Expect the mods during the next week or so to crack down and you see more idiots removed.
