I think people need to accually know what there talking about before they start talking...

most of the disscusion is jokes and stuf i know but there are alot of people in the fake firmware threat that have there head up there ass...

but thats just me...

thespecialist is not going to ever release the accual hacked firmware because he has givin the knowlage on how to do to everyone out there that cares to read is thread on the topic...

and when it was said that he will never release it, but there will be a hack for all 30 drives this means that there are other people/tems out there that read the specialist technical disscution on the topic wich in detail discribes in great detail how to do this dvd firmware hack...

other teams have picked this up and are continuing the work that the specailist has starded with this...

thespecailist isnt going to release this hack into the wild because he doesnt want to deal with whatever ms might do o whatever, he has posted his work in his disscution so that people that have the knowladge to reproduce his work will release it...  cool.gif  cool.gif  cool.gif  happy.gif

Exactly, TheSpecialist doesn't need to release the hack for the Scene to have it.  All of the information for someone who really knows what they are doing is on the XboxHacker forums.

This is why people like Team Executer aren't the ones complaining about how this is fake. Because Team Executer actually understands how this hack works, they don't just look at a video and assume its fake because the video didn't include a 360 degree view and TheSpecialist holding three forms of State ID, and Bill Gates in the background being peed on.

The people  who think its a fake are the ones that don't really know crap about hacking.  People ask why they would crack it if they don't like piracy.  You can tell those are the ones that aren't true modders.  TS and the others do it for the challenge, to prove it can be done.  These people aren't in this to steal games, they are in this for the challenge and fun of hacking hardware, if you can't understand that, perhaps you should take the vinyl skins off your xbox, and sell it back to the guy who chipped it for you, because you aren't a real modder.

it's be interesting to see how this goes. If they can get a non 1:1 disc to boot it means they could change files within games (non encrypted files) to see if there is any loop holes. I know when you play the mini game in PG3 it closes PG3 and loads the mini game within it. it'd be interesting to see if that xbe in signed.

Yes, Yes, hackers are very l33t, they don't advocate piracy, just do it for the challenge, etc. etc. However, if these guys were REALLY worried about the ramifications of what they have done, they certainly would have kept it a complete secret.

Information is information. It's not inherently good or evil. People can choose - nobody puts a blank dvd to somebody's head and forces them to pirate. Least of all these guys.

The information on how to do it (if not the actual code) is out in the open.  You don't think MS has engineers that know exactly how/what they did?  After all they designed the firmware.

Couple of things...
1. If M$ wanted TS they would have him. the reason they Don't b/c someone would release the firmware upon arrest. And M$ can't do crap about that part. On top of the fact that the Hiachi drive is the 2nd gen drive, I think they want to run with it before changing again.. Since there are what 60K 360 world wide ~50%have that drive as of right now ~25% of that get it modded. (I know I would just b/c - and I currently have that drive) They would lose money, b/c I NEVER would have bought, PDZ, Quake 4, DOA4 or Condemed. They all sucked IMO - on diffrent levels. But I would still have gotten GRAW, FN3, COD2. Right there is 160 and the system has been out almost 5 months on 1 gamer. Now you have the next 4yrs of the console life, unless they can flash on the drive - and I think if they could have they would have with the X1 chips. I know the firmware is diffrent from the bios, but I am sure you could change something in the firmware to NOT accept a new one.

2. The GTA does for the PSP, but in the cat and mouse game they are OWNED as of right now. Emulators still need some work.

3. What about a hack that loads off the existing files.. Like the Kios disk... I don't know how far along people had gotten. But while we were not about to change the sig, they were able to change the flash games. Some ran others did not, I think more would run of this Sig Code.

- Random thought - What if the 'Signed' xbe. what ever, dictated how Much of a certain program it would use. IE: Trail ~ Full version of programs.
Or
Exploit the code in a way to read off the external drive to load a program/hack

Lets face it everone makes mistakes, and well m$ just feeds to ppl on this at times... Someone forgot to be cleaver before putting it to press.

I still want to know, for such a HIGH powers machine, why my screen ALWAYS Tears when I go to the Guide!!!

I have a question I hope will get answered:

I know they put the updates on the xbox dvds for the dash, but it was never required to play the games. Even until now.

So would it be possible, or is it even known yet if you could have 2 consoles: 1 for backed up games and the other for online play?

Meaning, will we be forced to update ala the PSP to play new releases? Because this is the reason I quit trying to backup my umds and it sucks.

Well i'm thinking about this.  Do you think MS would create a firmware to kill or some type of patch that you download and if you have the hacked firmware on your drive it would kill the dvd rom drive?  and you couldn't get your xbox fixed.  because most likely from the looks of that video.  you'd have to open your x360 and of course voiding the warranty...

Sounds like some good stuff though keep up the good work.  can't wait for an xbmc360  biggrin.gif

well i dont think ms can update your system without asking you, so dont update till you know it doesnt add security.

yea that's what i'm thinking also.  But do they really have to ask you do you want to update or ot?  can't they force it.  Like while you're on live it's autodownloading and installing.  Or can't they put it into a new game and when you run it on that hacked firmware it kills your drive...
