the recent live updates eliminated the use for the kiosk disc. be not afraid to use the search button

Try burning it at 4x and the search function kind of works, you just need to do it through Google.

What does Kiosk Demo do anyway?! Do you need to boot this before inserting a copy game?

No, it lets you do VERy little.  .xex files on it are not mediachecked, so they can be launched from a DVD +/-R as well as a pressed disc.  And you can run some of your own Flash stuff, but not much can be done by the average person.  And no, it won't in any way let you play backups.
