Xex And Xbe Signing
« on: March 08, 2006, 07:25:00 AM »

Ok, I understand that there is the media check, and the file signature check.

On Xbox 1 the media check was bypassed by the mod chip.

Wasnt the signature check bypassed also ?

If not how come I can run Avalaunch.xbe, a patched GTA default.xbe with hot coffee mod and punisher default.xbe with added gore ? - surely these xbes are not m$ signed ?

Ive used these patching utilities with releases to mod games and dashes so I dont understand why comments like "you cannot modify the XBE" - Ive seen it done so I am curious as to what people are referring to ?

Now I appreciate that the 360 setup is different, but people keep saying "you couldnt do it on the xbox1 so shut up n00b"

If someone could take the time to explain this to me sensibly without shouting or telling me Im stupid I would be greatful.

Thanks

Yes - by XBOX1 modchips, and by XBOX1 BIOS patchers.  But we have neither for X360. sad.gif  Hence X360 XEXs can't be altered at this time.

Ok the normal xbox with a modchip or softmod alowed us to patch the kernel & bypass the signiture check for xbes. when u mod firmware it only passes the media check the signiture check is still presanr in kernel
