Why did MS let all of their windows software be copied freely up until windows XP??? even though I remember many other programs that were much harder to share. requiring special patches etc. ?
If MS had hardcore copy protection like it does now, do you think that MS would be where they are today?, IMO - Hell No! by letting people share it was like free advertising, they let 75% of the world install it and learn how to use it then MAKE them pay for it.
If you have an xbox 360 in the first place that says something about your income level - unless it was a gift or something. games on ebay are %30 off which is quite affordable, now IMO buying a used game on ebay is not much different than stealing one, how much of your money that you spent goes to MS ?
MS should know by now that it is all about getting your name out there, why does pepsi pay enormous ammounts of money to have a movie star hold a can during a movie?
If the box gets modded it can be a good thing --- here is why- People will buy an xbox that they normally would not even purchase in the first place because they would not be able to afford games for it in the first place, which will raise console sale numbers which looks good for investors, plus the family relative that is not a techno geek and would never mess with backups and comes over and plays your 360 and goes out and buys one. If mp3's were never stealable / free trade , would MP3's and Player sales be where they are now?
The biggest trick is , dont make it too easy
