He's saying he wont release anything, just like xbox 1 dvd fw hack.. so

Well who says he was gonna release anything. He just spoke of a team joined up underground working on the fw hack. He never mentioned being a part from that team.

AFAIK, the 360 Devkit hasn't been released yet, so where is this unsigned code everyone is in such a hurry to run?  Does everyone think that if the 360 was hacked to run unsigned code, all the dashboards and media players would just run or magically be ported over to a complety new system with no dev kit to know the instructions, libraries to link, nothing?

Who is talking about running usigned code? We are far from running unsigned code.

The XB1 hack was not released and I doubt the X360 hack will be released if/when it's completed.  From what I've seen, TS isn't really in it for fame/profit.  He seems to be into it for the challenge of making the system do something that it's not supposed to do, which is what hacking was really all about in the first place.  If/when the team gets it going, I'll be one of the people to say, Congratulations guys.

I'd love to have my system modded so that I can backup my games and have some peace of mind, but if they choose not to release it because of the personal (legal) implications it could have on him and his team then we should all respect that.  I'm in the processing of learning assembly now, not sure how fruitful it will be but I'm gonna give it a whirl.  If I or someone duplicates their findings (assuming they complete it) then it's up to that person whether they want to let it into the wild.

As far as unsigned code goes, who knows when we're going to get there, all we have now is speculation and an impending firmware hack, which is NOT going to magically emulate MS's private key.  Again, I'd really LOVE to have my system modded to this end, but If someone gets there first and chooses to not release it due to their own reasons then so be it.  None of the people who do this in their spare time, for their own reasons OWES us anything.  If they choose to release their work, that's at their discretion.

One person doing it is one thing, but I can guarantee if a "group" of people know how to hack it, it will leak out, and it won't take that long.

In a way I hope it does, and in a way I hope it doesn't.  For my own ends, It would probably take me forever to figure out how to do it considering I'm just starting to learn assembler.  At the same time, I don't on account that I'd be worried about any legal ramifications it would mean for those who didn't want it leaked.  Only time will tell, I suppose.

Not trying to sound ugly, just point something out.. there's no money in flashing firmware and playing burned disc, and when I say no money I mean no money for modchip sellers.  I think it's pressure from people of that nature thats stopping it, not personal.  And i'm not even saying their wrong, because I am all for whatever it is that takes these extremely talented groups of silent individuals into making this all possible... when there is something available, that can be sold commercially, I think we'll see a hack smile.gif  of course it's all my own opinions and speculation, so no  muhaha.gif

I doubt it's pressure on the modchip makers behalf holding it back. There is a LOT of money to be made from the FW hack. Piracy is a massive business in Asia; I'm sure those people would be willing to support groups to hack the 360.

Wonder if this sort of news would cause MS to think again about a China launch....

Good point.  They must be sure of themselves though, since games are basically $10 more than the previous generation.  That or they know a hack is around the corner, get all the 59.99's they can.  Sure, you can get a game for 19.99, if it's played out or lame.  Ah well.. i'm definately interested in seeing what becomes of the "fw" hack...

This would completely suck and would very likely kill the Xbox 360 business before it even gets off the ground. All this is is a piracy enabler. There is no justifiable reason to release something like it and no-one who is really interested in hacking to make the box more useful by running homebrew and other non-sanctioned software should support it. It might be a cool technical exercise, but its utility for anything other than piracy (and don't give the "backups of my pricey games" BS) is nil.

When you have 3 young kids running around, the backup argument is pretty f%cking valid if you ask me. If i own a game, i want to be able to do whatever i want with it. Luckely i live in a country where this is stil allowed, and no pesky DMCA can bite me in the ass  wink.gif

I have little kids using my consoles, and backups would be extremely useful.  I've already seen the disasterous effects on the Game Cube I bought, where 2/3 of the discs were lots and the rest were extremely scratched.  For a system where the games are $60 each, backups would make life a lot easier.

People remember this scene's policy. It's fine if you wanna steal from other people but keep that stuff OFF our site.

As for the post....Backing up games is a valid point with the current xbox so why should that change? Also imagine if a new super hack came out that would allow unsigned code to run you think the pirating rate wouldn't increase dramatically also? I myself really ain't really into playing games that much nor for backing them up. I just want to take apart the wall MS build around the xbox security. Brick by brick. Anything will do as we all have to start somewhere.

Seems TS or his crew wont release anything unfortunatly sad.gif

"Anyway, the protection in the 360 FW is a joke. I've already heard of others, indendantly, who also are VERY far with their hacks. So, in the end, I'm sure there'll be someone who's going to show the world how badly the FW is protected... If Dutch Politicians would have their own ideas, instead of getting them implanted by big American companies, that one 'someone' could have been a dutch hacker "

Seems stupid laws are preventing a release of this sad.gif

Lets just hope someone else will do it soon aswell wink.gif

you cant cant say they DONT WANT to release, they are just being careful in protecting their own interest.

also, with such a crack, i know i wouldnt be saying "woohoo, we got the crack, heres the firmware".  thats admission by itself.  i'd be more like, "well, we did it.  but we arent releasing it", then release it anonymously a bit later.

also, even if they dont release it themselves, his statements seem to be dropping some pretty good hints to anyone that knows how to reverse engineer.  i cant, but i can hear what he's saying.

i dont own a 360 yet, but wouldnt mind this happening before i pick one up.  i got a 6 and 8 year old, and the 6 year old has yet to learn to put his discs away.
