A while ago Gael360 released a program which could make raw dumps of any Xbox 360 game..

The program can be found here!!!

Usage of WxRipper:

1. Insert a DVD movie which is over 7.5GB
2. Open WxRipper
3. Click Hotswap/Find Magic number
4. Click Hotswap/Stop Drive
5. Use the emergency hole or the hotswap method to change the DVD with a Xbox 360 Game
6. Click Hotswap/Start Drive
7. Click File/Start Dump

Errors: Some drives may not read line 3 or 4
You can fix this by doing this:
1. Click File/Save Layout file...
2. Open the layoutfile using notepad
3. You'll see 7 lines starting with either C, D en J
4. Change the first letter in lines 1,2 and 3 into D
5. Save the layout file and open it in WxRipper

Note: These steps take place between steps 3 and 4 of the general usage.

FAQ's

Q: How come all my dumps are the same size?
A: You're performing a FULL RAW dump, meaning everything that's on the disc will be copied, and since you're using the same DVD movie, all filesizes are this size. Unpacking the iso files using Wx360 will determine the actual size.

What drives work?

NEC 3540A
Pioneer DVR-110D
Pioneer DVR-109
Pioneer DVR-A04
LITE-ON COMBO SOHC-4832K
Benq Dual DW 1610

What are the filesizes for each (extracted) game? Filesize= Size of drive

PGR3 PAL UK - 5,92 GB (6.366.629.888 bytes) 848 Files, 37 Folders
PGR3 NTSC - 5.31 GB (5,710,850,397 bytes) 792 files, 32 folders
DOA4 NTSC - 6.66 GB (7,158,026,240 bytes) 59 files, 3 folders
COD2 PAL  - 5,25 GB (5.645.570.048 bytes) 20,137 files, 102 folders
COD2 NTSC - 5.25 GB (5,645,570,048 bytes) 20,137 files, 102 folders
PDZ0 NTSC - 4.82 GB (5,184,217,088 bytes) 1,348 files, 664 folders

nice summary... but it sounds like only those drives work... and other drives will probably work. another point to add is that it doesn't work on XP x64 (or at least my copy of it, i have to boot into normal XP to get it working)

You are right, it produces some errors on x64 but you can get it to work. "Find Magic Number" opens up am exception error here too.
I did the following steps to get it working:

1) Open the layout file -> 360-DVD5.LTF
2) After x64 read the dvd9 toc remove the media
3) Insert the xbox360 game dvd
4) Click on "Start Dump"

That worked fine for me!

too bad I can't alter it anymore... would like to see the first posts being altered each time a new drive is found working, newer games have been ripped and checked for sizes etc...

Yes, it works.  The only thing that I have to question/dispute is the full dump.  I may have done something differently, but the dump I made using wxRipper wasn't the size of a single layer dvd, a dual layer dvd, or the size of my initial DVD; I used the Final Fantasy XI Beta and the ISO image was 3.64.  I may be mistaken about something though, so correct me if I'm wrong in anything I said.

If you want to find the SS yourself, you need to open it, and get the SS, or you can just download the SS from the web (just search at these forums and you'll find it)

I'm not even a moderator and I'm tired of saying this... Downloading SS.bin files is illegal and therefore can't be discussed here! A handy and more acceptable method would be to use wxRipper to rip your games, and then flash Xtreme0800.bin and rip all your SS.bins in a row, that way you don't have to flash back and forth for every game, just once when you start ripping SS.bins, and then again to play your games. Much safer this way IMO.

On another note, my LG DVD+R DL burner (don't have access to the model number right now) works fine with this method aswell.

I dont see how a SS file is illegal, it contains no copyright data.

No it doesn't contain copyright data, but according to the Digital Millenium Copyright Act, you can't circumvent copy protection, even if it's for a legal backup. Since the copy protection part of the 360 game is the SS.bin, sharing the SS.bin is technically circumventing the copy protection, which like I said, is illegal.

From that, you could draw the conclusion that tutorials about HOW to backup your own SS.bin are also illegal, since they teach people how to go about accessing the copyright protection part and re-insert it into your backup, but we have to draw the line somewhere. Besides I don't think it's illegal to simply discuss breaking the law. wink.gif

I love your last sentance. It totaly kills your argument because in the above post, before you were warning them, all he was doing was "discussing" how to get the SS.bin. It's not like he was uploading it to him.

Dude you've been around long enough to know what the forum rules are. I don't make the rules, so don't try to b!tch me out for letting people know what they are. What's 'illegal' on the board isn't always 'illegal' in real life. And I don't see how my last sentence kills my argument, as my 'argument' was pulled directly from the DMCA, which is a real legal document.

If by 'killing my arguemnt' you are referring to the last paragraph, and not the whole post, then I'm guilty as charged, since it was an assumption anyway, hence the use of the word *think* instead of *know*.  wink.gif
