Usb Memory Card Adapter
« on: January 13, 2006, 07:31:00 PM »

Hm... that's intriguing. Does anyone know how many pins there are going out of the memory card? Maybe it's just a modified USB. But that would be too easy, there's probably some sort of box or something somewhere. So I wonder if you could turn the memory card ports into USB ports.
I don't have a MU, but I checked the port and it looks like there are five pins and the shielding is probably a ground, and guess how many pins a USB cable has... 4 plus shielding for ground... so maybe not. Then again that last pin may be for some 360 specific function, like waking something up or some form of security.

I don't see any reason to make a hole in the bottom of the xbox to hook up the controllers when you can just use a USB hub. You can also plug a wireless network adapter into the hub, so I would be really surprised to see that whatever is plugged into the rear USB port is not a hub of some sort.

But that still doesn't tell us how the memory card port on the kiosk works. Maybe someone who works at one of these stores (and possibly set up the kiosk) can take a look?
