Xbox 360 Boot Disc Loader
« on: December 28, 2005, 04:46:00 PM »

Just found a release from Lithium,

I quote from the nfo:

XBOX.360.Boot.Disk.Edited.NTSC.READNFO-LiThIuM
No. of files      Cd1 .r1->5mb
OwN3D DaTe      12/28/2005
RiPpeD: Nothing
Region: USA
Creation Year: 2005
URL: http://www.xbox.com
RiPPeR          ShInY StAr
SuPpLiEr        LiThIuM
Alright, this is in fact a working boot method for backups!
This is the demo disk, with a little edited code, here is how it
works... Select one of the following demos, when into the boot disk
play for approx: 1 minute, then stop and eject the disk,
(using the center X in your controller), swap with
your backup title, DVD using one of the dump tools from PI,
hit the x to return to the dashboard, and viola your in!

Now I dont own a 360 as yet, so I was wondering if anyone else had tried this out yet?

Regards,

Llevon

I have this "boot disk" thing is i burned it the xbox reads it as a game but when you hit the play game tab it gives you a black screen and says the disc is unrecognized or its the wrong region anyone with a pal xbox try this out?

Have a friend from germany claiming it works if true then we need to switch the region coding on this.

Well think about it all PI games ahve been PAL releases and this bootdisk says its in the wrong region on a NTSC x360 and it reads as a game and tries to boot but then gives me the wrong region error, if there was a utility to switch region codes and try it on a NTSC system then I will believe its fake but if it actually works on PAL consoles and not on NTSC ones its not a fake it jsut dont work on NTSC systems.

Again I dont own a PAL console so I dont know but im quite sure some people here must own one it would be nice for them to actually try it out and post their experience with this "boot disk"

Whats even more interesting is that its jsut 2 files ones a 10.3mb xex file and a gif I just burned this on a cdr as a data cd and the x360 actually read it as a game, I just find this kind of strange no need to make a x360 compatible iso or anything.

i think you are way off on how to use the boot disc, you would have to get the koski demo disc and then replace the file from the koski disc with the one from the bootdisc, the readme says it's ntsc so i would recomend trying it with an ntsc backup.

Also the groups putting out the 360 backup games have never made it clear how you should burn them to disc? like do you extract and then rebuild with the old xiso method, do you extcact and then just burn the files? or do you just burn the .360 image? do you rename it to .iso and then burn.

I think the real test for this "boot disc" would be an ntsc console and a proper burned ntsc backup.
But then again dont forget the hole "hoax" thing also heh

12/28/2005-->This date is like April Fool's day. It's all about pulling jokes. All games still have a media flag regardless of the demo disk having one or not.

lol thats confusing... Do you mean that all games and executables (exe and xex) have media flags regardless?  Games have the media flag set to ?pressed xbox disc? whereas the demo disk has the media flag set to ?any?.

The 360 Kiosk demo disk has all of its xex and exe's with no media flag, but the other guy was saying that the game backup's xex and exe's still have media flags (well, all found have - maybe there's another screw-up like the demo disk here somewhere).

everywhere I go, ppl are saying it works while some say it doesn't work. Is the boot disc a 100% working method for playing backups?
