Linux is just an OS, so if u want linux on a crappy computer then go with xbox linux. I dont recomenned it on XBOX but its good on a desktop computer.

I too do not recommend Linux on the Xbox. While it is a project that should be commended, it is still in Beta, and from my experiences with Xebian so far, a very unstable OS. But, as for the basics, you can surf the web, send email, etc. IM, Chat, watch movies on XINE (No need if you have XBMC), do anything a real computer can do.
