Media Files On Internal 360 Hdd

Is their a place on the internal 360 HDD you can put movie and music files and play them on a Jtag'd xbox. What i mean by that is instead of having an external drive i am just getting a 500gb drive for the top of the 360 and i want to know if you can put the files in the same location they would be from say media downloads on Live , will XBR see them , without modifying the name or anything on them.
