I have an XBOX 360 Elite .I hooked up my XBMC yesterday it sees all my files but it does nit support .AVI files.

What are my work arounds?
should i do the live update will this kill my Firmware hack or ban my xbox from live?

Wrong forum.

This is for the "original" XBMC, for the XBox1

It has nothing todo with the 360 at all.

Check the official forums for some more info, but afaik avi files are only playable via transcoding software that converts them to wmv on the fly...

XBMC supports a whole heap of video codecs that the 360 does not. I'm pretty sure the 360 can play AVIs, but the do need to be using certain codecs.

Basically you need to find out what the 360 will accept, then re-encode your videos to that format. Either that, or install transcoding software as Jaydee suggests (though that way you'll need to do the streaming from your PC).

live has an update to play them ......and it's a signed file so if yu do get ban you loose the rights to use it..and there is no work around at all for this as of yet......
you need to weigh your odds on this......it's your box and as you know many have been ban...there is no special secret that's going to stop it.......
and for the 360 it's just media center not xbmc
