Problem Installing Gentoox
« on: April 06, 2004, 07:56:00 PM »

trying to install using Stardust..  While booting the Stardust CD, hangs on Initializing Network.  The LED is flashing Red, Orange, Green, which i guess means its busy, but I've let it sit for several minutes, and it wont go any further.  Any suggestions??

I heard that if you install the Stardust BIOS and boot the disc from Stardust BIOS the problem will be corrected. I'm trying that tonight. I'll get back to you.

Xbox v1.3-1.4 (not sure in that range)
Samsung DVD Rom
80 gig Seagate Baracude Hard drive
Xenium modchip
Tried running using X2 4981 BIOS and Stardust BIOS neither work.
My Xbox ip is: 192.168.1.101 (I'm looking at this as a possible solution, isn't it supposed to be .103???)

---------
Also, my Stardust installer is burned as an Image CD, is it supposed to be burned as a simple ISO cd?

Yeah, sorry about the double thread, the search engine was down at the time I originally posted this.

X-Box 1.3
Xecuter 2.3b lite
Samsung DVD
Western Digital 120GB HD
X2 4281 bios

I actually had it work the very first time i booted it, but then canceled the installation.  Now I get the network hang every time.  My screen turns black as well, but if i hit a key on the keyboard, it comes back again, almost like some kind of screen saver.  I found several people on the Gentoox forum having similar issues, but nobody seemed to have any answers for them either.  I actually gave up and installed Xebian, but I'd still like to know the solution the the problem if anyone out there has any more info

yeah, I had already tried it both ways, plugged into the network and unplugged, but to no avail.  I'm still baffled why it worked on the first install, and not on any of the subsequent ones.  Does anyone know if Stardust copies any files to the hard drive at or before that point??  Maybe there's some config file somewhere that needs to be cleared?

I have the same EXACT! problem, except I boot from the Xenium cromwell bios(and Xecuter 4982) and get stuck forever at Unix Domain Socket NET 4.0 or something to that effect!

I have

Xenium

160 gig Maxtor(locked)

Xecuter2 4983

What is weird, is that I was able to install Xebian, and it went thru Unix Domain Socket NET 4.0 Smtp too...just fine...

But stardust freeezes at the network stuff.....
