Sorry, yes. Whilst the storage file system can be amended, the file type cannot - hopefully MS see the light and enable more video types although in their eyes, since WMV is very well supported there's no real need to.

Why would I ever want to decompress an MPEG into RAW video?
It wont make it look better and it wont give you the original source.

Both formats mentioned are compressed versions of the raw format, which makes your statement contradictory. What you should've said was you don't use higher forms of compression for these formats.
