Not Displaying All Ipod Artists In-game

Hello everyone. I have a 160GB Ipod connected to my 360. When I browse my music from the dashboard all 558 of my artists show up, but when I'm playing a game only 288 are listed. It does the same thing for both Forza 2 and GTA:4. I have the Ipod Media Update so I know it's not that. I'm thinking it may just be a limiting factor of the 360, for example that it will only play the first 100 songs on a playlist with more than 100. Any constructive input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't bought anything from the iTunes store. All my music is unprotected mp3.
