Play Mpg Videos With Xbox360 From Passport Harddrive

I am trying to play music videos with my passport harddrive connected to my xbox 360.  When I open the folder containing the videos, the only ones that I can see are the MP4 videos, and it won't play them.  I tried to download an update for it that automatically popped up when I tried to play the videos, but they still won't play.  I have over 80gb of music videos, but only like 2gb of mp4.  The rest of them are all .mpg files.  I can't even see them on the xbox.  How can I get them to play?

I know its a pain in the butt but convert them to wmv, thats all i've got to play on the 360 even by following the guides for .mp4 files I have never got one to work.  All the files i've got to work on my 360 are WMV and .MOV thats it.
