It told me to convert to mpeg2, so I did, and of course It does not show up on the disk I burned , so Im assuming the 360 doesn't play mpeg2 videos besides dvds.

Can anyone give me any pointers on how to get this to play on the 360? Will a manual conversion process work?

Just an update here
I tried manually converting it(demux, change level, convert audio, remux), it plays on the 360, but with a shitload of artifacts. Its unwatchable. I will try with a newer version of h264info and post the results back here.

I guess gotsent isnt very reliable in the sense of telling you what will work on the 360, then.

Using an ewer version yielded the same results.
One thing I noticed was that the max bitrate of the newly created mp4 was 16mb. I will try limiting the bitrate to 10000 using h264 info.

If anyone can help me, that would be nice. I  kinda dont have a clue as to what Im doing.

The max bitrate is still 16.8 mb/s, so the limiting through h264 seems to have done nothing. Now I am stuck. To summarize the problem, the file plays perfectly on my pc, but on my 360 it plays with a lot of artifacts. How do I get rid of them? If the problem is the bitrate, how do I lower it?

don't think you can lower it without re-encoding which defeats the purpose...

some MKVs just aren't compatible.

For better MKV conversion try XenonMKV

Xenon said it was unplayable as well.

If I must reencode to a 360 compatible file, wat method would be the fastest, but still retain good quality?
The mpeg2 conversion gotsent did was fairly fast, only took about 1 1/2 hour, and looked good, but the 360 doesn't play mpeg2s....... Anyone have any suggestions?

When I used to do conversions of HD material I used Encode360. Pretty good results on fastest setting.
