People still use XBMC? I put the Xbox in the closet when Xvids were enabled on 360.

Theres still a few XViD's/DivX files that the 360 won't play. Which is why XBMC still takes top priority for most of my multi-media needs.

I have 50 or 60 old DivX movies that the 360 won't play.

Aside from the fact that XBMC allows you to have storage space for all your xvids in the hard drive of your choice, you can also factor in that no emulation exists on the 360 yet, wheras there's plenty of good emulation that can launch from within XBMC.

Also DVDs look much better on the original Xbox when upscaled over component (XBMC of course), even compared to DVDs upscaled on the 360 over HDMI, it's really not even close, sadly.

I still use XBMC for divx clips that need subtitles.
If the 360 is able to do this, could someone let me know how?

Not sure exactly what this means! Not sure that I care anymore!

I've given up waiting for Microsoft to get off their ***** and provide support for formats (ie. native evo, mkv, mts) that I can stream through my 3 Xbox 360's from my computer.  Actually, went out & bought a PS3 on Saturday & a BluRay burner last week as I have over 80 HD DVD's plus 350+ standard DVD's-I think "h*** must have frozen over for me to buy a Sony!!!

I have been able to convert several HD DVD's to wmv after countless hours of research and then re-encoding for almost a day each.  When BluRay blank discs come down I'll probaby try to re-encode the HD DVD's to BluRay to play on the PS3.  I'm not holding my breath for MS to give loyal Xbox people a way to play HD DVD's on the Xbox 360's. So likely, the HD DVD's will eventually join the Xbox HD DVD players in the garbage if re-encoding them to the same quality is not possible & the HD DVD's no longer work.

Have 2 original Xbox's softmodded with 200 gb hard-drives but rarely use them anymore. Have 3 Xbox HD DVD players as well.  Maybe I'll just scrap all the Xbox's and buy more PS3's & run linux & eventually XBMC-I really love Vista Media Centre-but am sick of the waste of time & energy trying to convert to a format that streams movies etc.. Always been a loyal MS fanboy-but losing patience with programs & products that don't work or only work half-***ed.

Sorry for the rant-just got back from the local movie rental store-last Friday they had over 60 HD DVD titles-now they have removed them all-not going to rent them anymore. I thought that at least I could rent the HD DVD titles that I haven't purchased.  If MS doesn't do something quickly about a BluRay player-or some other way to play HD formats-they can kiss goodbye any advantage they had over the PS3.
The Xbox 360 is still a great machine for games-but not for multi-media & the Xbox blades & system set-up is certainly more user-friendly than the PS3.

So, does this application mean there's life after HD-DVD?

I was wondering that myself.
IMO it has potential.

I sent it and about 5 minutes later I recieved a reply saying I was added to the distribution list. If you've gotten that then just wait for another email.

And don't forget the IMAGE support XBMC has.  I am hoping this emu opens up new doors for the 360 and playing movies.

How can we use this? It says that it requires a HD DVD player in order to work, I hope there's no validation. Could this mean that we can watch H264's without having to re-encode?
