Playing Hd Avi Movies On Xbox 360?

I would like to do this, and I would like to know which is the best way of going at this.
I'm thinking of having a big library of hd movies on a pc, and I would like to know how I could watch these movies on the xbox 360's.

I have been reading more about this and it seems that my best bet is not using my xbox 360 for hd movies (h.264 files). Can anyone else recommend me a solution.
