As soon as HD-DVD recordables come out, we can rip bluray and write to HD DVD.  All is good.

Most definitely. There are many ways to skin a cat

Or you can just rip both and stream them from a Hard drive and pay pennies per gig instead of dollars like I and my others have done for the past year and a half.

This way you also stop supporting Sony and their DRM developed storage medium, ontop of optical storage being the worst type of high capacity medium there is.

agreed, while that is completely true, the consumer masses are generally considered blind to intelligent ways and will purchase whatever is dangled in front of them...and that will be optical media...at least for a while until other distribution methods become mainstream...

Not sure about posting links here, but Gadgetell.com has an article about the PC HD DVD recorder.  Out in Feb!

HD-DVD players outsold BR player last year, and many people who bought an HD-DVD player over the holidays are unaware of warner siding with BR.  If the customers speak with their $, and buy more HD-DVD hardware and software, then things will change no matter how many studios are bought out by sony.  Sony (yes sony, considering they own most of BR) thinks they can force their format on the public by choosing what the consumer wants for HD movies.  Toshiba HD-DVD isn't much better in that regards, but there is a whole lot less user restrictions with their format then BR.
