Yes, the pcbs are etched and come complete with a labled silkscreen for easy component placement if you decide to assemble your own.

All we have right now are pictures of an assembled pre-production revision 1.0 pcb (All are now rev 1.1. A few cosmetic changes, minor functionality improvement.)

Here's some pics. I'll post some of just the rev 1.1 pcb and another pre-production assembled unit later tonight or tommorrow:

That is a 1.0 pcb. The new ones look MUCH better. Expect to see less hot glue and flux as well ;)

The last picture is a picture of the back which has velcro on it for easy mounting and removal. Shipped versions will be either velcro or double sided foam tape. Probably the tape as it is cheap. If you want velcro, send us an extra $1 (USD) and we'll do it. Be sure to make a note in your order.

Maybe a stupid question -- but how do you advise to connect it to the motherboard? Or are you required to solder to each port?

At this time we don't have the solderless kit. To install you will have to solder the 5v and ground wire to the source of your chooseing. Then you have to solder the trigger wires to the controller ports. There are some other steps in there that will be included in the install guide. But thats the jist of it.

what exactly does the unassembled version come with then? the $20 one.  it seems pretty stripped down for $10 more.  does it come with instructions for the resistors needed for common LED voltages?

The unassembled version comes with
-The PCB
-The transistors
-The resistors for the transistors
-Installation guide including a list of the resistors we use for the LEDs we install.

Basically it comes without the LEDs, resistors for the LEDs, and the labor.

When you buy a complete kit, you specify which LEDs you want from the list above. We then install the correct value resistors on the board. Everything is ready to go.

When you buy an unassembled kit, you get everything except the LED related parts. No LEDs, or the wires to the LEDs from the circuit board. Since there is no LEDs, there are no resistors for LEDs, as it makes no sense to include them. You will need to supply your own LEDs, LED resistors, and wire to connect the LEDs to the pcb.
