Did you change the default gateway on your computers settings or you evox settings?

Because I meant evox settings.

Just in case.

Hard Drive & Ftp Question

on your XBOX your Gatway type should match your IP type
example:
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
IP: 192.168.0.3

your PC should be set to 192.168.0.X (X=1 to 255)

also on both systems you should have the same subnet mask.

Also make sure you connected it to the right NIC (Networc Interface Card)

make sure Evox-dash is loaded
in Evox.ini check this

[Network]

SetupNetwork = Yes
StaticIP        = Yes

[FTP]

Enable           = Yes
Password       = xbox  (or whatever you want it to be)

after you format the drive
b.t.w.

section "root"
{
item "format", @210
.
.
.
.
.   the other stuf
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
} <-----don't forget

[action_10]

Info "Format HDD"
Warning "This will format all standard drives"
Warning "Make sure you have a backup of C & E"
Progress "Formatting drives"
ConfigSector "\backup\disk.bin"
Format c:
Format e:
Format f:
Format g:
Format x:
Format y:
Format z:
#

then you should be able to use your slayers CD

{Believe me I know}

Hard Drive & Ftp Question
« Reply #19 on: June 24, 2004, 04:50:00 PM »

ok, I've formatted the harddrive, by selecting the option "Rebuild Retail Harddrive",
but once its formatted, it returns to the main menu. Then I reboot, and the same menu loads (no installation menu). So its like i'm formatting around in circles every time.

the PC IP address is correct (192.168.0.4 , the xbox is 192.168.0.3). The evox dash loads, but not the one with the gears, instead its the one with a building blueprint skin (not sure if its important)

the subnet address is correct, and I disable all other connections when I try to connect.

also, when I turn the xbox on, the computer tell me its connected (@100kbps). its sends packets of data, but absolutely no data returns. an orange light flashes at the xbox's FTP port.

.......also, the four blue lines of info at the very top of the settings read:

[Network]

TYPE: (blank)
IP: 0.0.0.0
LINE STATUS: 100/Full Duplex
Ethernet MAC ADDRESS: (doubt its important seen as I'm on a PC, but there is an address there)

take a good look at these settings -
TYPE: (blank)<---------------------------|
IP: 0.0.0.0  <------------------------------|

what does it say.

NO IP...

since your booting from a CD you can't change it.

make yourself a new cd with a correct evox.ini
to be able to use FTP

(download Xiso, extract your iso, change evox.ini, make Xiso, burn to cd-rw, boot, ftp)

i've pissed about with the evox.ini so much, tryin to get it workin. The evox.ini doesn't give u the option to change that main IP address. this is my evox.ini:

[Network]

TYPE: (blank)
IP: 0.0.0.0
LINK STATUS: 100/Full Duplex

SetupNetwork   = Yes
StaticIP                   = Yes
Ip      = 192.168.0.3
Subnetmask   = 255.255.255.0
Defaultgateway   = 192.168.0.4
DNS1      = 0.0.0.0
DNS2      = 0.0.0.0
SkipIfNoLink   = No
SetupDelay   = 0

I'm at a total wits end, what the hell am I doing wrong??????

Ok do this : the show all connections tab in XP this should show you all of you connections, you should look for your LAN connection, make sure your XBOX is connected and powered up, now go to the properties of your default LAN connection and scroll down to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and select properties, now u should be looking at TCP/IP properties, check to be sure. Now select "Use the following IP address:" and give your PC an IP something like this:

192.168.0.2

and the subnet mask should auto config to

255.255.255.0

, now this is important the Default Gateway must match your Xbox setting which in this case is

192.168.0.4

this set up should work, works on mine...wish ya luck, my new HDD is acting the fool, can't ftp to it but i can ftp from it, could it be the jumper settings, it's on CS right now, but i don't know.
