Ok here's the skinny,
I am having issues geting my Xbox to see my PC over a small home network. My PC can see the xbox but not the other way around. The ultimate goal is to stream my divx/xvid videos in order to take advantage of the new mpeg-4 codec support made available through the Fall 07 Dashboard Update.
After calling MS who after offering no useful help whatsoever told me to talk to my router manufacturer (linksys). And from there Linksys told me to talk to Microsoft since there was nothing on their end that they could do to help as it was a MS based issue due to the software (WMP media sharing) and the hardware (xbox)
Since I'd rather refrain from the ugly circle jerk of death known as MS customer service, I figure I'd swing by to you wonderful geniuses here at Xbox-Scene to see if the problem could be solved.
Now for the details. I have done the following whether through personal troubleshooting, or working with MS/Linksys:
Opened the UDP/TCP ports for Windows Media Connect on my Router.
Set the Xbox in the DMZ to avoid firewall issues on that end.
Done a reset of PC, Xbox and Router (in that order).
Tried both wired and wireless connections.
Attempted to use all the appropriate sharing applications supplied by MS (Zune, WMC 2.0, and WMP11)
I have done everything shy of actually getting a crossover cable and directly connecting my PC to the Xbox. However that option is not very usable as I need to have the Xbox connected to the web for Live and need my PC connected to the web for my web work.
Hardware Specifics:
Custom-Built PC running Windows XP SP2 (patched and updated)
Standard Xbox 360 (not Elite, Arcade, etc) Running Fall 2007 Dashboard Update
Linksys WRT5GL v1 (Firmware 4.30.11)
If anyone needs any more information in regards to my PC setup and the like just let me know.
Any help that you guys can supply would be greatly appreciated.
