I don't even need to read into this.

The result of this is is predictable: it will suffer from poor compatibility, and because of this attain probably less than 1/15th of market XBMC enjoys.

Stupid, no one cares, the people who do care are technically literate and aren't going to settle for some stupid proprietary decoder with hard limits on what it can decode

thats the spirit! stay positive... dry.gif

DIVX/XVID support would be nice, the 360 interface for media still sucks compared to XBMC....I think more people want full x264 support with mkv, for 720p/1080p rips...that alone is a reason to buy a 360

If this is indeed true, like others have said, it would be nice to also see x264 and Transport Stream included...but hell, beggars can't be choosers....I say in due time.

exactly . . why is divx/xvid support so important?, we have XBMC for that.

What I really want is full x264 support for all the .mkv 720p/1080p rips i have.

Divx and xvid are both mpeg4 compliant, so they can both play each other, you can test this out by only installing divx on your computer but trying to play a video file you know was encoded with xvid. If Microsoft does add divx support xvid will work.

Not true, XviD has some non-compliant parameters that can be enabled as did DivX last time I checked.

If it was a s simple as that Microsoft would announce MPEG4 ASP support, it's not.

I'd like to see DivX 3 support smile.gif hahahahaha  laugh.gif  muhaha.gif  pop.gif

It pretty much is as simple as adding divx support will add scene support, as far as I know 99% of scene releases will work with only the new version of divx installed on your system. Now maybe if you have videos encoded by joe blow who encoded his videos a special way it may not work but try and find a scene release that will not play with the divx codec.

Because some of us do have content in DIVX HD they wish to play!!

I do agree that full MKV support would be sweet.

exactly...interesting to see the whining about possibly getting a new feature on the 360, but i understand how people may be more interested in the h264 addition....

still no interface can beat xbmc yet...

did they delete or edit the webcast?  it seems to start at 39min. for me and there is no way to get it to the 24min mark.

edit: nvm...looks like it's a firefox problem.  loads at 0:00 in IE.

Personally i think they have left it far to long, most people get divx to watch on there xbox with XBMC, or dvd players with divx playback.

Due to technology, MKV hd files seem to be the in thing, for HD addicts tongue.gif, which is brill if you have a nice tv to watch on it

It would be nice tho, to have one machine to play all tongue.gif, and then have the xbox as a nas tongue.gif
