I posted this in the other thread too, but I started using GODSent  - http://sentry23.googlepages.com/  and it has worked well so far for converting x264 mkv's to h264 mp4's.

Lol, i accidentally found the fix for this

I connected external hard drive to it, and tried to play a mp4, and it asks to go on xbox live and have an update to play the file, can you believe that

It will not ask if using media center, or streaming, just if you have external drive connected up.

Very sly me thinks

wingm8, how long does that take to convert a movie?

i tried using it yesterday but it said i was missing: mp4box, ffmpeg and mkvextract.
any ideas about how to get it to work?

Hey, I have not tried to convert a movie because I like to watch movies in surround sound.  However, it takes about 10-15 minutes to convert a tv episode like Heroes.  The time it takes to do a movie would probably just be an extrapolation of that.  

About the missing files, download this: http://download.vide...OTSent023b3.rar
It has all that stuff included.  

Make sure you check the note about using the Nero AAC encoder on the GOTSent website ( http://sentry23.googlepages.com/ ).  I had to rename the file in the zip to exactly what it says in the instructions ("NeroAacEnc_SSE2.exe").  It was named something slightly different in the zip file.

thanks wingm8 , converted fine

although im having problems getting the 360 to play the movie.

i burned the movie to a disc, downloaded the update from live, but when i try to play the movie now it says something like "cannot play..... unsupported"

any ideas?
