Michael Bay responds to Paramount's abandonment of Blu-ray

So by now you've heard that Paramount has dropped support for Blu-ray right? Good, so has a notable Hollywood director. Michael Bay -- the man behind "Transformers," "Bad Boys," "Pear Harbor," etc. -- just threw down with Paramount in his personal blog. In a forum post titled "Paramount pisses me off!", he states, "I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!"

Michael Bay needs to grow a brain, this is just a easy way out to try and avoid a Transformers 2 movie, blu-ray and HD-DVD are neck and neck about quality, its features, cost of players etc... thats different.

What a moron

I actually get his point. Still, who would not do a movie because they don't agree with the "formats" it is going to be released on when it goes to video? That is lame.

Much agreed feflicker. I would not base my decision to make a sequel on whether it would be available on a particular format. He must have bought Blu-Ray players for himself (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

If Bay really wants people to see his movies...he should make better ones...instead of trying to razzle dazzle us with $200M movies with weak plots.  blink.gif

He should be more focused on making good enough films for people to actually want to go to cinemas and watch them, rather than what they're going to be released on. Besides, I wouldn't think the High Definition market was big enough yet to even complain what it's released on.

+1

Haven't seen Transformers, but man PH sucked big time as well as Bad Boys. Could care less of this guys opinion and if Hollywood is smart they will leave Transformers alone now that they've made a movie of it and since the movie didn't do too bad (from what I've heard and read) making a sequel would be a disaster.

There'll be a Transformers 2 but he won't direct it. He'll be doing Pain & Gain during the time that Paramount wants to make Transformers 2 so they'll just get a different director. And how is someone going to base their movie directing decision on the HD Movie formats, a niche market.

in otherwords, he wants to get paid from blu ray sales.  considering what the movie made in theaters, will make in dvd sales/rentals, and what little will actually come in from any "HD" format discs, thats a bit pompous and greedy.

but, if they asked him to make the film, and offered him enough money, he'd do it.

Why is Bluray considered better? because it can hold 10 more gigs on a single layer? size shouldn't be an issue since HD-DVD can be triple layered.

Is Michael Bay a unknowledgeable fanboy?

If the post was made by Michael Bay, then he is acting like a spoiled child. If he really cared about making the choice fair then he should be upset that Disney, Fox, MGM, and Columbia/Tristar aren't releasing HD DVDs.
