help! everything i start MKVExtractGUI 1.6.4 i get a messege ..

WaRNING! mkvextract.exe and/or mkvmerge.exe not found

That's cause MKVExtractGUI is a GUI for the mkvextract.exe program. Sounds like its just not installed correctly. Uninstall, and re-install both.

There's one included that you can use. If you're not working from e:\wmv_working\ then you'll need to open the file in notepad and change the directory. Just use that file. If for some reason you don't want to use that file, this is all that's in it:

DirectShowSource ("e:\path_to\file_name.mkv")

Just install both programs to the same directory and run the GUI.

It's in the file that has the TMPGEnc saved profile.

It sounds like either A) Your AVS file does not have the correct path in the correct syntax or (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Your Avisynth or codecs are not setup properly. The problems you're having kind of go beyond the scope of what I can help with. I recommend you uninstall every video codec / utility you have and re-install clean.

For the people who dont have the "advanced" codec, do you have wmp11 installed? The codec comes with that. TMPG has nothing to do with it, it only lets you choose codec's you have installed.

Alright, now it's not timing out, but I'm getting an error still.

"DirectShowSource: Can't determine the frame rate of the video, you must use the "fps" parameter (D:\wmv_working\movie.avs. line 1)"

DirectShowSource("path\to\the\file.mkv" ,fps=23.976, audio=false)

^Try that and see if it fixes your fps error, remember to change the 23.976 to whatever your srouce is though. 99% of the time you wont have to though.
