Xbox 360 / Ipod
« on: April 23, 2007, 08:43:00 PM »

I'am trying to use my music from my Ipod on my 360, but when I go to play songs pretty much all of them have a red circle with a cross through it, and it wont let me play them. Any idea what the deal is or what to do? By the way I dont download any music so every song on my Ipod I own the CD for, not sure if that means anything...Thanks in Advance!

The problem could be that the songs are .aac format, which you have to download an optional media update to play. That would be the only reason I could think of for that problem.

I cant find this update either. I remember seeing it before the latest update, but now i cant find it anymore in any of the menues. Does anyone know anything about this? Is there anyway to fix it?

Nevermind, i found it....stupid place for it to be. You have to go the marketplace, games, all games, optional media update. Why couldnt they have put it somewhere more plausible as opposed to where i would go find demoes lol.

If you have downloaded the 'optional ipod support' and can not play M4A files, I know why. If you DRM-strip with Myfairtunes6 it DOES NOT work, if you DRM-strip with QTFairUse6 it DOES work. The only difference I can see if you look at the info pane in iTunes, with the Myfairtunes M4A it says 'encoded with itunes and quicktime' if you look at the same info pane for the QTFairUse6 M4A there is not an 'encoded with' subtitle. Unfortanetly you can not re-strip with QTFairUse6 if you have already done so with Myfairtunes6 (unless you kept the M4P file - I DELETED MINE JUST DAYS BEFORE I GOT QTFairUse6!!!)

Hope this clears things up.

Doesn't everyone get Live:silver for free? That should let you download these.

Unless you mean you have no internet connection...then I think you may be SOL.

Music yes as long as it is mp3 or aac. Aac needs an update as stated earlier.

The only way to get videos to play would be by somehow putting WMV videos on it and then using the ipod as a usb hard drive through your 360.

cool, ill just put WMV on the ipod as a removable drive, the xbox should be able to read it that way
