I want to stream mkv files to my 360, if i use a transcoder such as tversity will i lose the hd quality that the file has?  and if so, what can i use to convert mkv files to high definition wmv without losign quality?  Thanks!

*ignore first post, just read the stuff below me*    but if i choose to convert from mkv to wmv, (because apparenlty that's relaly my only choice if i want to retain hd quality) , and was to use say that river program, what output format would i choose to have it retain the same 720p format?  wmv9 or wvc1 ? i googled them i don't know what the difference is, which is hd and which is not?

I'm pretty sure 360 is happy with wmv9

I'm having a hard time transcode HD quality (720p) MKV's using transcode 360 using a wired connection and an x2 3800+ with 1 gig ram windows mce 2005 machine.

And so... I"ve had to re-encode to wmv as you've hinted at. Look at this  previous thread for more info.
