You need to have XVID Codec installed and then configure it to run in "compatibility" mode.

Also you'll need ffdshow, and AC3 processing codec, and a number of others.

Check the download page for TVersity...it gives a list of the codecs you need to have installed.

It took me a while, but I seem to have a pretty good setup with:  xvid, ffdshow, ac3filter, the various "splitters", and more.

Make sure that in TVersity's settings that you have fixed the display resolution... I find that it's video resolution in the transcoder is awfully low...  which may be to help people with slower computers by default...   I have a core2 duo system with 2gb of memory and a fast sata drive (seagate...the 7200.9) so it pretty much just takes what ever I throw at it.

Once I tweaked some settings in XVID and TVersity I'm getting very high quality.  It also depends on your source video... check out the resolution of the source video file too...   I have a HD version of 5th element that looks great when transcoded.   I have some other movies that are in a much lower quality format (somewhere around 300px tall) and they don't look as good when scaled up to 1080 px tall.
