Streaming Files To 360
« on: February 09, 2007, 09:11:00 AM »

So I just go my 360 hooked up to my laptops MCE and have read about using transcode 360 to convert the files on the fly.  However I had a question,  I believe before I messed around with some codecs on my pc I was able to play certain .avi files just by clicking on them in Media center of the 360.  However now i dont see the previews and the only way for them to play is to go to the "more.." and then click transcode.  Is this how everyone else does it, or is there a way for the transcode 360 to just do it on the fly with out having to click "more" all the time for every file.

Or is it because im missing some codecs?

you might be getting your wires crossed.

todate there has been no method to just run any AVI's directly in Media Center.
you either have to select more->transcode or alternativly run VLC360 which gives you a seperate file browser.

sounds as if you are thinking about VLC360.
