Hello everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone with hacked firmware has used this HD DVD drive yet?  I've heard that more updates were needed for it, and was just curious as to who has done it sucessfully.

I have hacked FW, and there are no problems with backups here.

HUH ??  that part doesn't even make sense
I assume you made a mistake with that section ?

If it 1080i over component.. why would you show 1080p results within it ?

I believe he is referencing the way the content is encoded on disc. The main feature (movie) on most if not all HD DVDs released has been encoded at 1080p. So if you take this paragraph:

QUOTE
1080i over component
Games - yes
1080p HD DVD movies - yes
480p HD DVD extras - yes
DVD - no

It means that games and 1080p/480p content from HD DVDs can be output in 1080i over component. SD DVD cannot be output at 1080i over component.

This has to be the lamest idea in a long time. Who is really going to buy this clunky add-on... It's huge, loud, stays on all the time...

Well you don't have to buy it so hush your making more noise then my HD DVD drive.

Stays on all the time is it hard to disconnect it from the 360 when your not planning on using it NO.

Seems like a Sony fan reviewed this that's why there saying PS3 better blah blah blah.

A little off the subject, should I buy the US version of the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player?  I am in the UK, Europe - but I have a library of region 1 DVDs and want to be able to play them using the HD-DVD drive. No NTSC issues as my TV and Projector handle this without probems. So big question is how the power brick works - can someone check their's and reply with the details, is it 110-220v? Have seen on engadget that the back looks like it says - 12v 3A.

lol yeah I dont see it "staying on all the time" as an issue. Its just a drive.  That would be the same as bitching that your cd or dvd drive in your computer is "on all the time." smile.gif

Well in December the HDMI Cable is supposed to be released so you will be able to do 1080p. If you don't have a 1080p tv its really not an issue... Another friend of mine has commented about maybe somone making drivers for it to work on the ps3...we will see?
