My experience will (reluctantly) be the first negative review for House of Modchips. Daryl said Ill be the first idiot to give him a negative review. I say what good is this system if only the positive reviews are included. So heres my experience.
After reading all the positive reviews and seeing the great pricing I ordered four chips the first time out. I average six installs a week mostly by word or mouth advertising among friends and family. Some folks provide their own chips and some I order.
I placed an order for three XBITS and one SmartXX. Everything was going smooth. Fast replies to questions and fast shipping. For some reason my order was split into two FedEx shipments.
On the day of arrival the three XBITS were delivered on a Friday morning around 11:00 a.m. At 2:00 p.m. we left for the holiday weekend and did not return until Monday night. I checked FedEx tracking and saw that the other package was delivered around 9:00 p.m. on Friday night but there was no sign of it on my property. We have community mailboxes here and only the USPS letter carrier can leave mail in them.
The next morning I call FedEx and explain the circumstances. They check the logs and say that the driver left the package on my doorstep. I explain that it was not there and they open an inquiry for the driver. I call back a couple of days later and Im told that the driver did not respond to the inquiry and I should have the shipper file a claim.
This is where it all starts to go south. I send HOM an email explaining everything that has transpired and they ignore it. I figure fine they are busy and I follow up in a day or two and I get this nasty attitude from someone that is very reluctant to file a claim but I persist and they do it.
Eventually I start getting these emails forwarded to me from HOM, which they in turn were getting from FedEx. I dig deep into one of them and I find the claim description that HOM gave FedEx:
Customer remarks: The tracking number says delivered but this guy is bugging me to file a claim cause he said he never got it.
I send an email to HOM indicating that I was not pleased with this treatment especially since I just purchased four chips on my first order.
I get this response:
Sir i apologize for this and believe me, my receptionist will hear about this one. It was not me who filed the claim.
Then at least two weeks go by without a single response to any of my follow up emails to HOM. Nobody shows any interest until last Tuesday when I say that I am going to give up and just go tell what happened in the forums.
I was offered an Aladdin in exchange for the SmartXX I never received.

Why would you say its a bogus claim? This is the heart of the problem. First your receptionist and now you. How can I get a fair investigation with this kind of BS from you and your people? This is what you call good customer service? Its you and your people treating me like shit and Im getting fed up with it. I have been polite and patient all the way up until you stopped responding to my inquiries, even after your receptionist practically called me a liar. And now I get more of the same from you. Tell me when the better customer service was going to begin? How many more days of being accused of lying did I have to grin and bear before I would have gotten the better customer service?
If relating my experience accurately and truthfully in public makes me an idiot then so be it. Maybe the next time this happens you will think twice before you torpedo somebody from the start. God forbid two idiots should come forward. Ill sleep on it tonight and think very carefully about how to relate my experience in the forums. I guarantee that it will be honest and accurate. You go ahead and call me a liar and an idiot in public I dont care.

Like i said, it isnt our fault that fedex left a package at your house and someone stole it, i offered you a replacement for free.. it may not be a smartxx but it still is better then nothing. the claim was filed, and its not my fault that fedex hasnt responded on the claim yet. probably because they know its a bogus claim. and please do tell the forums, you will be our first idiot to leave us a bad feedback when the problem isnt even because of us. if you havnt noticed everyone loves our customer service, maybe you would get better service if you werent so rude. Yes you may be a good customer and order a few chips, but that doesnt give you the right to treat us like a peice of shit.

Folks I assure you that if HOM had not treated me like a liar from the start and if they had given FedEx a serious claim I would not be here today giving them their first negative review. I cant file a claim with FedEx because I am not the shipper and HOM is not the least it interested in pursuing the issue beyond the opening the claim. They wont follow up with FedEx and as far as HOM is concerned my claim is bogus.
Im giving up on HOM and calling VISA in the morning.
