Modstore was one of the few that (supposedly) had smartxx v2's in already. After reading this forum, I saw that other people were having a hard time, but the people ordering smartxx's within the last week were getting theirs pronto, which was exactly what I was after.

Too bad for me. This is the 4th day, my order status hasn't changed, emails are not getting replied to at all, and it looks like I'm just one more of the several suckers around here that tried modstore.com I'm giving them a little more time and a final warning. If I don't hear from them soon (and I don't expect to at this point), I'll go with someone else and they can deal with the chargeback.

Update August 3: Within 3 hours of my email on the 30th, my chip shipped AND I got an email response. The reply was very short and did not address the poor customer service I complained about: "Your order has been shipped." This has not been a smooth or pleasant experience unfortunately...

Update August 5: Despite having 2 copies of my address (order + paypal), the address that was given to fedex was a little "off". My chip was supposed to show up Aug 3, but now after ironing out the address problem, it's supposed to be here today. We'll see...

It has been over a week and my order still shows "processing"

I have not heard anything from them since the automated "your order is being processed" message. I've called, but only get an answering machine. I've sent a message, but only got a automated "we got your email" reply.

What is going on? Do I need to cancel my order and contest the charges?

UPDATE AUG 11TH:
Over 2 weeks and still nothing! No communication, no explaination, and nothing shipped to me. This has been the worst online shopping experience I've ever had. I guess I have to cancel my order. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE!

UPDATE AUG 15TH:
Finally got notice from Paypal that my complaint was resolved with a refund. There was a "note from seller" section in the notice, no surprise... It was empty. The jerk didn't even waste a few seconds to say sorry or anything.

If you have ordered with Paypal and haven't gotten the chip within 2 weeks, start the complaint process. You'll at least get a refund from the bastard. Also, visit resellerratings.com and rate the seller. The rating was over 8 when I placed my order. It is now 5.75 and I would never have ordered from them if it was that low.

I thought i was suffering alone until a friend pointed this post out to me.

I initially ordered my smartxx chip from modstore on 27 July -- almost 2 weeks ago. After no communication from them regarding shipping for several days, I emailed them, twice. Finally, on 2 August i got a very terse reply stating that my order had been shipped (I'd chosen USPS First Class) and provided this link to satisfy me:

Well here it is a week later, and I still have nothing. Even the US mail isn't THAT slow.
I'm pretty annoyed. I picked him off of the smartxx.com official distributor list, but it seems even that isn't safe.

Excellent layout and support. I ordered a PS2 and an Xenium chip on 08/11/02004 and had no problems at all with the website or the store. THe layout is great, selection I kinda wish was wider, but hey, not gonna bash for that. I love the auto inventory notices (if item is out of stock it tells you) and the total shipping costs/options breakdown is a GODSEND (I do a lot of online purcahses) Good site and store, keep up the good work.

I got an email saying my order was "shipped." But has anyone noticed that the USPS website that you can track it on says "The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner on August 12, 2004 to expect your package for mailing. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Hmm...so I get an email saying its been shipped, but the tracking says "expect."

I FINALLY received my order today, but it was missing the Xebian CD. I emailed Ryan about it. Let's see what happens...

Order #154284 (Shipped) on the 11 of August. I choose 2-3 days USPS

Now is the 16 and haven't heard anything. I checked via USPS and it's said EXPECTED to be delivered. I'm giving the guy sometimes. If I don't receive any message from him soon nor my packate this Friday. I'mma file a report. I understand it's a 1 guy company, but at least he should get back with me soon.

I ordered like 2-3 months ago i ordered a preorder for like 300$ and ended up getting my money back because it took him over a month to respond to me and then i threatened to go to paypal, and i got my money back.

This is by far the worse online experince I have had when trying to order something. I place an order for a SmartXX v2 on August 5th, 2004. It was said to be instock. Come two weeks later my chip is "shipped" via USPS Priorty Mail. 3 weeks later, to today 9/10/04, still have not recieved chip. Have sent them numerous emails, and have yet to hear anything back. I guess I just pissed away $60, since they wont even contact me since I have asked for a refund since they are such a poor store to buy from.

I would advise looking else where before purchasing from this store.
