NOTE: I forgot order # is last post so this one includes the order number.

I ordered my modchip on the 10th of May (5/10/04) To this day I have not recieved it and the order is still showing up as processing in the order status page. I have contacted the owner of the shop 3 times and have not recieved a response yet, and have not been able to contact him through AIM, MSN or phone. I understand the shipment got delayed becuase of the firmware upgrade but to my knowledge they were supposed to be shipped out today (5/18).  Today is is still processing and still no reply. Im not sure if he's on vacation or what becuase most reviews I have seen had excellent support ratings, and I'm hoping that I can get in contact with the owner soon..

I had full confidence that my order will come out great due to the reviews, and will post update when the order is shippped.

Order #153887

EDIT: Chip was shipped today..

Hmm. The store is great. Recieved my package on time and all. really good. just that my lcd came DOA. Nevermind that. it's Manufacturing fault. I don't blame the company. But they haven't replied my email regarding the exchaning for a new one. it's been 2 days already. What have they been doing!?

I sent an e-mail to you but you said you never received it, so I sent another. I have since talked to you on AIM and this has been resolved.

I ordered a premodded XBox with a SmartXX chip and a 160 gig hard drive on May 7. The payment was done instantly through Paypal, and as of Monday May 10, my order status was adding upgrades. I know it must be tough to find time to add these modifications sometimes, but its been a week and the order still hasn't shipped. The website now says that the SmartXX chip won't be available till tomorrow, but if upgrades were being added a week ago, I'm not sure if that will affect me. I know that I won't get ripped off, but I feel like when someone has spent over $300 and hasn't gotten what they've ordered yet, they should at least be kept up to date about whats happening. I mean yeah sure I wish the order could be shipped faster, but i do understand the time involved, so my main complaint is just that I"m not being kept in the loop about my order that seems to me like its taking an abnormally long time to be shipped.

It was left in the 'Adding Upgrades' status because we did not have any SmartXX in stock to finish upgrading the Xbox. The shipment of SmartXX chips we were expecting arrived a week late because they had to be reflashed with the latest OS update.

Your order was delayed becuase there were no SmartXX in stock at the time of your order. I sent you e-mails, but they were returned not received by you. Your order has since been shipped and is on its way to you.

I apologize about all the delays. The SmartXX are back in stock and ready to ship.

I bought a second SmartXX modchip from http://www.modstore.com

Order number 154049

The item was shipped super fast (same day) and arrived in good condition with all hardware needed to perform a pinheader install.

Great outfit to do business with.

Order #154000

Ok
here's the update.

after posting i received a response from Ryan (owner).  He game me the tracking number and it turns out that the post office screwed up.

ModStore.com shipped on time and sent priorty as was paid for.

post office has since lost my chip.  claimed it was delivered (9 days late i need to add)

my main issue here (and i see that a number of others have this same complaint) is the lack of response from the business.

this was delivered on the 23rd of june and supposed to arrive on the 25 or 26th.  I called and emailed Modstore a number of times starting on the 28th.   At least a couple calls per day as well as multple emails.

If i had had the tracking number on the 28th or 29th this may have all be resolved.
USPS claims to have delivered on the 3rd of July.. though it did not arrive so i assume it was lost or delivered somewhere else.

Order #154000 (Shipped)

Order says shipped.. even paid for priority shipping.

ordered june 16
says it shipped the 23rd...
"United States Postal Service (1 x 1.1lbs) (Priority (2 - 3 Days)):"

so far nothing..

called, emailed, etc.. no response at all..

any ideas?

past orders with them have been fine..

I e-mailed you about this issue. USPS says the item was delivered and you say it wasn't. We are still waiting to find any additional information from the post office.

I've also had this problem. I ordered a SmartXX from Modstore.com, and have called them twice inquiring about the shipment. Both times I've left my number and both times they have not called back.

I checked the tracking number today, and it says that it was "MISSENT".

If I'm not either 1) Getting my SmartXX chip or 2) Getting my money refunded, I will be EXTREMELY angry. Not to mention modstore.com is down right now!

Order #154098

I ordered an LCD for the SmartXX, USB-Xbox adapter, and so called "ATA133 cable performance upgrade".

I ordered it Wednesday last week and I expected it to be shipped the next day, but in fact it was not shipped until Friday. The same thing happened when I ordered my SmartXX from BMMods, so this seems to be the norm in the Xbox mod scene..."ships next day" must actually mean "ships in two days"...oh well, shipping was fast and it arrived on Monday, so that was fine.

I have no complaints about the LCD or USB-Xbox adapter, but the "performance upgrade" ATA cable is a piece of crap. I see it's not even for sale on the site any more, probably because so many people complained it didn't speed anything up, and in fact may SLOW down load times. I timed the load times of GTA 3 and Vice City from both my hard drive (via Evo-X) and the DVD drive, before and after installing the new cable, and they were about the same, if not slower. 30% my ass. It was also supposed to be guaranteed to fit the Xbox...I have no idea how they got it to fit, especially since one of the connectors is totally flipped around. I ended up running the cable up the side and making some crazy folds just to get it in the correct orientation, and now my box doesn't seem to close all the way. I'll probably end up putting the original cable back and using this worthless one in my computer or as scrap wire...

Other than all that, Modstore.com seems like an average console modding store. I received my products quite quickly and wasn't ripped off (other than the worthless ATA133 cable) so I can't complain.

Order #154152

I sent an email on Thursday asking about the SmartXX Ver. 2 chip and was informed that they had them in stock.  Modstore.com was very quick to answer my pre-sales questions.

I ordered and paid early Friday (7/16) morning.  The Modstore.com website was up and down Friday.  I sent an email asking if they would be able to ship the chips that day, but I received no response.  I sent a couple of emails over the weekend checking on the status of the order, but I really didn't expect to get a response on the weekend.  Their site was down most of the weekend, so they may not have received those emails.

I sent an email this morning (7/19) and one this afternoon checking on the status of the order.  I also left a phone message on their voicemail.  I have received no response.

All I want is to know when the items will ship.  Is this too much to ask?  They already have my money, and I feel entitled to know where the order is in the process.

Is this how modstore.com does business?  I hope not.  I'll keep the scene updated on how this comes out.  I hope it's just a matter of miscommunication.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 7/20/04 - Morning

Still no coorespondence from modstore.com.  Their web site is down again.  So far, this ranks as my worst experience with an online retailer.  Maybe expecting responses to customer emails is too much to ask.  I expected the items to ship Monday at the latest.  They confirmed that they were in stock, and I ordered early Friday morning.

Modstore.com where are you?  Did you take a vacation?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 7/20/04 - Evening

The modstore web site has been down all day today.  I have received no email reply or telephone call regarding the status of my order.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update 7/21/04

I sent Ryan a PM via xbox-scene.com, and he resolved the issue.  He refunded my PayPal payment.  I hope he gets teh problems with his server sorted out soon, as I imagine that it's killing his business.

I'm guessing that my emails never made it due to the server outage.  I'll try modstore.com again once they get the server issues resolved.

Thanks again Ryan for resolving the matter.

Our site has been down for the past few days now. The hard drive in the server it was on was going bad. We are currently working with the host to get the site back up on a new server. All orders will be shipped once the site is back up.

Ordered two SmartXX Ver 2 chips and a couple of molex Y- adapters.  They were shipped out the same day I ordered, and Ryan kept me updated on the status of the order.

grr.gif

What the hell....?

UPDATED: 3rd of August

The shipping label was printed on 29th of July, FedEx did not receive any package for the label on 29th. I sent Ryan an email asking him to check it out. 30th of July, the package was picked up at 4:30PM on 30th of July. 2nd of August, item was delivered, they are in good shape. The chip came with Xebian CD, and SmartXX case badge as advertised. Have not tried the chip yet thoguh. I hope the chip is not DOA.

PROs: Modstore DOES have SmartXX v2.0
CONs: Horrible communication.  Hardly ever talk to him in any form of communications. (Emails, PM, IMs)

I just wish that he works more on customer service, and commnication with his customers.
