I heard of modstore.com from a post in the bst forum when I was looking a store with Chameleons in stock.

The site has the familiar design you've all seen before. It's very simple and easy to navigate. The registration process is straight forward. The account management is very basic, but it covers everything you need. The automated e-mail is formatted very well.

Now, down to my experience. I placed an order on Friday, 1/24, for two Chameleons to be shipped via USPS Priority. I checked the status of my order on Monday, 1/26, and it was still in "processing". I contacted Ryan (the owner of modstore.com) via e-mail letting him know I needed the by the coming Saturday. He responded quickly and let me know that he could hand deliver them since he lived in town. Now that's customer service. He could've easily said that the chips were being shipped and should arrive in time. Instead, he took that extra step to make sure I was happy.

I stand by Ryan and his store. Keep up the good work Ryan.

I placed my order for a SmartXX chip fom Modstore.com a while ago. Now I know that the SmartXX shipments were delayed from the factory so I didn;t hold that against him. After he got the stock in on Friday, I had my chip on monday. One thing however, pissed me off. There was no pinheader included. I have read that most resellers include small extras like wire or the pin header, but i got nothing. So, I had to go out and order one online and so I can't test my ship till it gets here. So, in summary, if you want great service with fast turn around times at a fair price and don't care about the extras, shop at modstore.com. I recommend it! beerchug.gif

First US based retailer to get the chips in I think. Excellent communication via email and AIM.  Chip came in on Friday, shipped and tracking number on Friday, was at my house by Monday.

I talked to him about the pin header, appearently they didnt ship with any and he didnt have any for them in.

I ordered my first modchip, a SmartXX on March 3rd, which is considered a back-ordered item now-- he ran out of them, I guess   dry.gif

After having read here somewhere that we XS members get a 10% discount, I e-mailed support at modstore.com and suggested that if it were not too late, I'd like to get the discount.  Within a day I received a reply graciously agreeing to provide said discount.  Nice of him, yes?

Thanks to many of you, I was also able to request that a pin header be supplied with my SmartXX, when it does ship.  I'll have to let you know how that goes.

The only other thing I can say at this time is it would be nice to get an ETA on when the next batch of SmartXX might ship.  Modstore's Web site indicates:

What does that mean?  Is that soon in geologic time (i.e., the Ice Age occured recently) or soon in football time (i.e., We've reached the two minute warning, so the game should only last another half hour or so)  uhh.gif

Rest assured, I will post a followup once something happens.  That said, I can have no quibbles with Modstore at this moment.

The SmartXX was listed as out of stock on February 29.

They should be in by the end of the week. I'll let you know of the status as soon as there is an update.

I received my SmartXX from modstore.com on 22 March, complete with pin header and two d0 wires.  This chip even has the latest OS version pre-installed, so worth the wait!

Not only that, but Modstore very graciously provided me with the xbox-scene 10% discount and their new reduced price on the SmartXX that went into effect after I had placed my order, in the form of a partial refund :rolleyes:

Excellent service. I bought a SmartXX chip for only $57 because of the XS members discount and the realistic shipping prices, plus I ordered my chip Monday and had it by Friday so I know they obviously try really hard to get your order out ASAP. My chip even came with the lastest version of the SmartXX OS installed. Not only that but I was even able to talk to them via Email and AIM in which both they provided super fast replies. I would definatley do business with these guys again without a doubt!

To sum it up,

Pros:
Cheap prices!
Fast shipping!
Up-to-date products!
Excellent customer service!

Cons:
None!

I choose to purchase from modstore.com after reading all these great posts, however I have yet to recieve my mod yet. I ordered on 4/20/04 and it said it was shipped on 4/22/04, although the tracking number says it is still waiting for the package from the shipper. It's only been a little over a week so I hope nothing went wrong. I sent an email with no response, but we'll see. Since there are so many good responese I don't think anything bad happened, maybe Ryan's just on vacation...I just hope I get my package soon!  :lol:  

Summary:
It's been little over a week and still waiting... :uhh:

Edit:
Just reporting that I got my order. I can't believe it took USPS almost a week and a half to deliver from Nevada to California. However, Ryan shipped it out quickly, about a day or so, once I placed my order so I would definetly recommend them to other people. Great turnaround time!  B)

Hmm. The store is great. Recieved my package on time and all. really good. just that my lcd came DOA. Nevermind that. it's Manufacturing fault. I don't blame the company. But they haven't replied my email regarding the exchaning for a new one. it's been 2 days already. What have they been doing!?

I ordered a premodded XBox with a SmartXX chip and a 160 gig hard drive on May 7.  The payment was done instantly through Paypal, and as of Monday May 10, my order status was adding upgrades.  I know it must be tough to find time to add these modifications sometimes, but its been a week and the order still hasn't shipped.  The website now says that the SmartXX chip won't be available till tomorrow, but if upgrades were being added a week ago, I'm not sure if that will affect me.  I know that I won't get ripped off, but I feel like when someone has spent over $300 and hasn't gotten what they've ordered yet, they should at least be kept up to date about whats happening.  I mean yeah sure I wish the order could be shipped faster, but i do understand the time involved, so my main complaint is just that I"m not being kept in the loop about my order that seems to me like its taking an abnormally long time to be shipped.
