Order 330
Another modder goes south? I find myself taken back to the old days, nearly 2 years to the date:
http://forums.xbox-s...wtopic=3390&hl=I ordered on the 18th of August and on the website, it said 7-10 business days to order completion. I saw on his forums a few days after the order that people were starting to complaine that their orders weren't filled and a month or more has passed. Right around this time, he took his forums down. How convenient! I still waited longer. Today is the 10th business day and I demanded a responce with the status report of my xbox or I was going to paypal.
He did send a form letter out a few days ago saying that there's been some delays due to the fact that he's swamped and he's "changing his shipping around". That may have been acceptable but a few days ago, I asked him what kinda hard drive he was putting in the modded xbox and he mentioned a western digital 7200 rpm / 2mb cache drive. He answered that one pretty quick so he's there and he's responsive to miscelanious questions. BUT when I told him I didn't want the hard drive in that case and to please paypal me $115 back for it, he said he would, never did, then went AWOL.
Awol crap does not cut it for me for any reason. So, I sent him an e-mail demanding my hard drive money and a status on where my xbox was and that if I didn't get it within 48 hours, I was contacting my credit card provider and paypal and getting the charges reversed.
Let me take this opportunity to talk to all modders who may be reading this. Since I've been through this twice now (see my above link) it is logical to say there's a pattern here that you as a modder goes through:
(1) You bust your butt to get your name out. You mean well and you want the people in the scene to know it. You want them to come to YOU. Youw ant to make money by shipping a high quality product then that's what you do.
(2) The good word travels just like you wanted. So you get swamped. You can't find the chips or the time.
(3) You get bitter, you stop responding to e-mails, you probably get yelled at by paypal or your merchant account provider about chargebacks. You deduct that customers are impatient and annoying and you stop doing it or worse, you go out and get another website and start over.
There's a solution guys and it is NOT ignoring e-mails. That just gets people like me to get my money extracted from your account. The solution is to be very active in telling us where our xboxes are. Tell us why they're not here - that that chip order hasn't come. Let us see a queue on your website. This way, we can see that you are filling orders and we can see ourself advancing in line. More importantely, we can see up front before we order how big a line we have to wait in. It may cost you a sale if we feel your line is too big vs the time it's taking but you will have either no complaints or complaints that are very invalid and ignored by the bulk of the community.
If there's a modder out there like this, I would love to hear from you. I realize this market is grey but there is a limit to how grey it should be.I'm just so annoyed with doing my homework, trying to find the right modder for me, seeing the good feedback and quick shipping times and then going to this modder who decides to go south just when I order and start to see forums that go from excellent to sour in their reports like this one has done. Shame on you, ** NO THANKS.. SPAM THIS SHIT ELSEWHERE **. It's time to stop appollojising and start making things right like an honorable business person!
