smile.gif  MY ORDER # IS 327 AND I JUST PURCHASED A PREMODDED XBOX.  I DID SOME EXTENSIVE REASEARCH BEFORE I BOUGHT MY SYSTEM FROM CMS.  BESIDES THE GREAT PRICE I FOUND THAT JOHN RESPONDS TO E-MAILS FAIRLY QUICKLY, WITHIN MINUTES IF NOT HOURS.  HE ANSWERED ALL MY PRESSING QUESTIONS THAT HELPED ME MAKE MY DECISION; FROM SHIPPING TO PRODUCT INFO.  THE REVIEWS AND FEEDBACK THAT CMS GOT ALSO HELPED IN MY DECISION.  CMS DOES NOT HAVE A LOT OF CHOICES IN CHIPS, BUT THEY HAVE THE LATEST AND GREATEST ONES LIKE THE NEW XENIUM-ICE CHIP AND THEY ALSO HAVE COSMETIC MODS WITH THE LEDS.  CMS SAYS THEY CAN GET WHAT YOU WANT THAT IS NOT LISTED ON THEIR SITE, BUT I'D  STICK WITH THEIR RECCOMMENDED CHIP OF CHOICE. ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY PREMODDED XBOX, I BELIEVE CMS IS THE BEST SITE FOR U.S. GAMERS FOR A PREMODDED XBOX.  THE CUSTOMER SERVICE & SUPPORT BEFORE THE SALE WAS GREAT AND FROM WHAT I'VE READ, IT WILL CONTINUE AFTER THE SALE AS WELL.

Order #330.

I've been crytical but because of all the feedback, I ordered my unit on 8/18 and from what everyone else says, I'm pretty confident that my system will be sweet and I promise a review when it comes in.  Also, your forums are down.  I hope everything's ok and you didn't lose a hard drive or a computer.  I dono where you are (N. or S. Carolina???) but we had some real hellacious storms that night.  I myself lost a router.  It sucked.  Anyhow, looking forward to the box and doubt it'll be the last one.  (lol I've owned 4.  (1) unmodded (2) enigmah modded (3)  X2 Modded, (4) Matrix modded which became a Phoenix modded which got annoying and subsequentely got sold.

Order #301.  Ordered about a week before july 31st, and haven't received a single update.  I tried emailing him, but I haven't gotten any email back.  This right now is making my parents trust the internet even less than they already do, and making me look terrible because this is a gift for my little brother(whose bday was the 31st, but I didn't expect it by then).

Order #277
Ordered 07/08/04
Processing 07/09/2004
Pending Shipment 08/16/04
Shipped 08/17/04

Called USPS A few days ago and they never received the package.  This is after a few weeks that they say my order will be shiped out anyday.

After about 7 1/2 weeks, nearly two months and still no XBOX that I ordered and paid for.   I think it speaks for itself.

Order 330

Another modder goes south?  I find myself taken back to the old days, nearly 2 years to the date:

http://forums.xbox-s...wtopic=3390&hl=

I ordered on the 18th of August and on the website, it said 7-10 business days to order completion.  I saw on his forums a few days after the order that people were starting to complaine that their orders weren't filled and a month or more has passed.  Right around this time, he took his forums down.  How convenient!  I still waited longer.  Today is the 10th business day and I demanded a responce with the status report of my xbox or I was going to paypal.

He did send a form letter out a few days ago saying that there's been some delays due to the fact that he's swamped and he's "changing his shipping around".  That may have been acceptable but a few days ago, I asked him what kinda hard drive he was putting in the modded xbox and he mentioned a western digital 7200 rpm / 2mb cache drive.  He answered that one pretty quick so he's there and he's responsive to miscelanious questions.  BUT when I told him I didn't want the hard drive in that case and to please paypal me $115 back for it, he said he would, never did, then went AWOL.

Awol crap does not cut it for me for any reason.  So, I sent him an e-mail demanding my hard drive money and a status on where my xbox was and that if I didn't get it within 48 hours, I was contacting my credit card provider and paypal and getting the charges reversed.

Let me take this opportunity to talk to all modders who may be reading this.  Since I've been through this twice now (see my above link) it is logical to say there's a pattern here that you as a modder goes through:

(1)  You bust your butt to get your name out.  You mean well and you want the people in the scene to know it.  You want them to come to YOU.  Youw ant to make money by shipping a high quality product then that's what you do.
(2)  The good word travels just like you wanted.  So you get swamped.  You can't find the chips or the time.
(3)  You get bitter, you stop responding to e-mails, you probably get yelled at by paypal or your merchant account provider about chargebacks.  You deduct that customers are impatient and annoying and you stop doing it or worse, you go out and get another website and start over.

There's a solution guys and it is NOT ignoring e-mails.  That just gets people like me to get my money extracted from your account.  The solution is to be very active in telling us where our xboxes are.  Tell us why they're not here - that that chip order hasn't come.  Let us see a queue on your website.  This way, we can see that you are filling orders and we can see ourself advancing in line.  More importantely, we can see up front before we order how big a line we have to wait in.  It may cost you a sale if we feel your line is too big vs the time it's taking but you will have either no complaints or complaints that are very invalid and ignored by the bulk of the community.

If there's a modder out there like this, I would love to hear from you.  I realize this market is grey but there is a limit to how grey it should be.I'm just so annoyed with doing my homework, trying to find the right modder for me, seeing the good feedback and quick shipping times and then going to this modder who decides to go south just when I order and start to see forums that go from excellent to sour in their reports like this one has done.  Shame on you, ** NO THANKS.. SPAM THIS SHIT ELSEWHERE **.  It's time to stop appollojising and start making things right like an honorable business person!

I have to respond to set the record straight here.  CMS has done everything we can to update customers and let them know the status of their order.  WE ARE BEHIND!  YES!  We have made no secret of this.  Some emails have been answered slowly and some orders have taken WAY to long to ship.  We have not gone anywhere nor have we not done anything we were supposed to.

All issues have been taken care of or are being taken care of.

As for the problem with enigmatl's order, it has been resolved.
fmgz has also received their Xbox, but I haven't heard anything from them regarding the matter.

I would just like to assure everyone that has orders placed with CMS that they are shipping and business is being taken care of.  We have been slow lately and there is no excuse except we got too big too fast.    We were not prepared for the order volume we received and greatly underestimated the manpower we needed to take care of that volume.

Thanks,
lan122

Order 330

Though CMS has been behind on orders, it would appear they are filling them.  I am next on the list of those who have had their orders filled

SHIPPING
Xbox was shipped via DHL (www.dhl-usa.com) They are cheap yet reliable and I might even use em for my ebaying in the future.  Package itself was wrapped in thick brown paper inside the xbox's own retail box.  I've had em come to me inside a bigger box with foam peanuts but that's not needed since the xbox's retail box has styrofome in it anyhow.  Shipping time was 2 days from pickup but for this, keep in mind, I am closer to CMS than many of you reading this may be.  I'm about 4 states away.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX
Everything advertised.  The box as ordered with all paperwork and the xbox itself is just about as though the plastic that they put on it was never taken off so the box could be worked on, yet it was obviously.  (Good job.)

HOW IT WORKED
Powered up, ran great, and continues to do that.  No issues, no lockups, no random times where the box decides not to boot ince in a while like I've seen on other mod jobs.

HARDWARE
Since I did purchase a Samsung 616T, and a retail version WD drive, after playing for a few hours, I took this opportunity to open up the xbox to put the new drive in.  While there, I took a look at the mod job.  Looks seriously stable.  Put in the new DVD ROM and Hard Drive and after getting the hard drive running, all was still well.

WOULD I ORDER AGAIN
In a heartbeat.  I was sceptical last time because with forums going down shortly after I ordered, I thought I was seeing what I saw 2 years ago from another modder that had no intention of filling my order.  Not this time.  I got my box and it works great.  Thank you, CMS.

BOTTOM LINE
Wheather it takes 2 weeks or 2 months, hang in there.  It is my belief that you won't get screwed over from CMS but instead, you will get what you order and it will be shipped and prepared very well.

The unit works flawlessly, and I have received assistance on matters by e-mail from CMS since that time.  I am very pleased with the unit (ver 1.6 xbox, Xenium Ice).  My overall experience has been good;  the wait allowed me to dedicate my time to other things ... smile.gif

I am appreciative of the job that was done, but will not ever ship a package by USPS if it needs to get there on a timely basis...
