Something's Wrong .. Need Help Please!

Make sure that the Universal Plug and Play and SSDP Discovery services are both enabled.  Also, disable any firewalls that you have running. (Even though I set up file sharing, McAfee firewall still blocks the xbox; other firewalls probably do too.)

nope didn't work .. i still can't get the part where it asks me for the password that the 360 gives me.  I install the software and it just says it's been installed successfully and i run WMC and it shows that the 360 is allowed but i can't connect at all?

Are you sure you got media center?  You don't download Media Center from MS.  It's part of your OS.  The thing you get from MS isn't the full WMC.  You'll only due the code if you already have WMC on your computer.  Check your music/pictures options on media and see if you can go to computer.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem as you, I can stream music etc no problem but it will not recognize it as a media centre pc so I can stream video, I have windows xp pro and windows media centre 2005.

I never get the screen to enter the password the xbox gives you either, it just authorizes the xbox, it should also do a network test to see if you have enough bandwidth to stream but doesn't do that either.

If anyone can help with this I would be very grateful as it sure is frustrating.... sad.gif

Cheers

Paul

If you have MCE, try manually selecting your OS when you download from MS.

Mcafee Privacy Service messed mine up as well, I just went gung-ho and uninstalled all mcafee items, then I was able to set it up.  After setting it up, reinstalling the applications again worked.  Simply disabling these applications did not work at all for me, removing them was the only thing that triggered my connection to work correctly (Media Center Extender).
